I have been on the hunt for months tring to find a AK drum mag. I just want to complete my CZ 858 nock off version of an RPK but can't find any drum mags to do the convertion too. Ever since I seen Paul's RPK nock off version from infratek.com I have a hard on to do this. He said that it is quite easy to do but the only hard part is finding the drum mags to convert. So is there any store were we can buy these from or is it gone the way of the dodo?

sure looks nice but at $300 a pop , :( ... alternatively maybe an AK 40rd banana mag may do the job but just a tuff to locate.

BTW: im gonna try to convert on of these to fit VZ58 or do you think im wasting my time?

All the drums are gone ,always on the hunt for more but they are getting more expensive in the US too.
I don't have the mags listed yet,and i probably won't bother as i'd like to hang onto some of them a while longer.

Actually, that should be very VERY easy to do. Looking at it, you'd only have to remove the top part of the drum that is inserted into the rifle (it's only riveted/spoted welded on). Then remove the metal piece inside the drum top that takes up the space where the right side round would go (as AK drums only feed on the left).

Then cut the top off a VZ mag leaving enough marterial to fold outward to create the "flaps" like on the original drum top. Attach the metal piece inside the VZ mag top and rivet it on to the drum body.

If I had another drum around, I'd try this. The only problem I see is maybe bending the "flaps" on the VZ mag top as it's alluminum.

I'd probably go for it if it didn't kill the bank...too much.
