Tikka T3 Tactical

Well I'm sure you will get all kinds of people giving you their thoughts, lots of info to be gained here on this site.

I've tossed around the idea of the Tikka Tactical for myself as well. People say they are expensive, and yes they are. However, when you consider what you get for that price:
- mag system
- adjustable stock features
- accuracy guarentee of 1" or better out of the box (with just about any factory ammo not just custom made handloads)
- pic rail system
- very smooth action
- nice finish on the metal

As opposed to the Remington 700 which you take a chance on the accuracy, no adjustments on the stock, no removable mag, no pic rail.

I don't really consider them "expensive" rifles, just a rifle that you don't and for the most part can't upgrade or "customize" to you.

Heck, the AICS for a Remington will cost about $1000.

Nice rifle and one day I may pick one up as well, but in the meantime I do love the Remington 700.

I have a 700 7 mm mag sendero but love the Tikka action. May move my nightforce top the Tikka.

One of the most predictable, and accurate out of the box 308s (mine is) that I have ever shot.

This rifle will shoot a 20 shots inside a MOA at 100 m.

Will also shoot 5 shot strings at 1.5-2 inch Sub Moa groups at 300 yards.

If I do my part It will hold Moa.. But here is the kicker that sold me, it does it cold bore or hot, clear bore or fouled, weather thats up to me to adjust for.

I can honestly say no other factory rifle has been so consistant, I have shot tighter groups but these Tikkas are simply predictable,

I have found this in all my tikka rifles 222s, 6.5x55, 308s, 7mm mag, in varmint rifles.

Hunting rifles shoot as well, and are as predictale as it gets.

My 700s need fouling, my savages are picky, and through the odd flyer and shoot better with either clean or fouled barrels.

You will not go wrong with the Tactical becides the price tag. The varminter rifles are as good as the tacticals.

This, I would like to see.

What purpose does a 308 serve? I am thinking about a rifle for big game when I go north, my local shop has a Tikka 308 Tactical right now and I love the way it looks. Is the 308 a good large game round?

ive never hunted with a .308 but im assuming since it is possible for a .223 to kill a deer...a .308 will do some damaga to a lot of animals...depends on what you want to hunt, i dont think it would kill a moose, but ive been wrong before.

A .308 is probably the most common gun here for moose. It is a fine accurate round but for a tad more accuracy with some more killing power the 300 win mag may be the ticket.

Wow, and here I thought bullet placement and expansion characteristics were more important than velocity. Oh well, wrong again!

The .308 is a shortened and slightly less powerful 30-06. It will work.

That being said most of the hunters I know (I don't really hunt much myself) prefer the 30-06 (Almost 200 fps faster than the .308)

The 7mm rounds also have a strong following.

While 308 is often used, you don't hear them talk much about it. The 30-06, 7mm and 300 win mag rounds seem to garner most of the attention.

The .308 was probably the most popular gun for moose in Saskatchewan for years. The 308 studs used to laugh at the 30-06 I used.:sniper::sniper::sniper:

Well seeing how the topic has seemed to switch from the Tikka Tactical to the "what is a good moose gun" topic, I'll throw this in. 30-06 is a much better rifle for moose hunting (at least in these parts) however, the .308 will do the job. All depends on the guy/gal behind the trigger.

For me, 30-06. Although I would like to try the 300WSM

This, I would like to see.

Well with this gun you name the time at the place and we will dance!

1 Moa at 100 m = 1.1 inches it will do this with no questions! until you do not want to shoot anymore!

It really is an inch rifle! I am not claiming .25s, you should know my posts better than this, but it will shoot 20 inside moa!

Now under calm conditions, I am not good enough to shoot the rifle in windy weather to appreciate how accurate it is.

I traded my 30-06 for a 300 Win Mag but I am clueless why. Moose are usually in close anyway and I was accustomed to the gun. I never used a pad with it and with a pad the 300 Win Mag kicks about the same.
