I'm thinking about getting one in .22 LR as a trainer for my Savage 10 FLP in .308 Winchester.

Hows it shoot ?

Groups ?

Any mods I should think about ?

TIA,

Craig

I absolutely love mine. It's an excellent shooter (better than I am) and the Accu Trigger is great. I am very happy with the rifle.
I don't think you need any mods but there aren't many mods available anyway. I've seen a few different wooden stocks for the FV but that's about it. I'm keeping the synthetic stock, the way it is.

My Mk II GL was an excellent shooter. Sharp Shooter Supplies sells a lot of Savage specialty stuff. Look them up if you're serious about modding it.

I've got no problems whatsoever with my BV as well, great gun and i happen to like the accu-trigger setup as well, but suddenly i'm craving a semi-auto! I've shot a couple Ruger 10/22's recently and i think i just got hooked. What a blast! Especially with a 30 round mag. But to stay on topic.... I think you'll be quite happy with a Savage.

I purchased a 10/22T which is lots of fun and fairly accurate but tends to be a bit more picky on ammo.

The MKII BV is definately more accurate and not nearly as picky on ammo.

But I am happy with both.

Both are terrific rifles. The MK II is probably one of my most accurate LR's I own. Never had it jam, break, and doesn't seem picky on ammo. Unless you desperately want it, don't bother with the accutrigger. It's nice, but I find the factory pull setting adequate.

it is shipped with the minimum trigger pull setting of around 2.5 lbs. there are mods if you want a lighter pull.

Thanks for the opinions all, I'm sold.

I realise .22's are very ammo specific, but I'll ask anyways, what shoots good in your gun ?

By mods I meant the "must do's" , like an extended mag release for a 10/22.

My buddy has a 10/22T , nice rifle but I'm looking for something as close to my 10 FLP as possible besides ..... I already own a 10/22.

My 10/22 is picky on ammo for FTF or FTE. The MK II on the other hand isn't picky on ammo. Federal bulk packs or Winchester bulk in the white box are both good. If I am doing my part they both shoot close to 1" groups at 50 yards from a bench. CCI mini mags and America Eagle tend to be a bit more accurate. I much prefer to shoot copper washed rounds rather than just straight lead. I did try some winchester super-x and there was some failure to feed, I think from trying to close the bolt to fast and having the soft lead bullet deform.

I should have been more specific. I've felt all my rifles trigger pull were fine, whether they be accutrigger or not.
