I took my first trip to the range with my Norinco M14S and it was shooting way to the right. I needed to adjust the windage to the second mark left of the centre(largest) one to hit the bullseye @ 25. I thought it was a barrel indexing problem, until I looked a little closer and could see that the big windage mark is not centred on the reciever. It is 1/16" off centre. Are all M14's like this or is this just Norinco quality control?

is it the markings on the receiver? or is it the centerline on the actual rear sight base..... have a look... i have seen MANY of the norcs with a rear sight base that has the center windage line NOT on center. This is why i recommend to most folks that if yer gonna use irons most of the time.... get a set of m1 garand rear sights norc rear sights are junk a good percentage of the time..... i just got a real nice set off a popular bidding site for 70.00 to my door.

Front sight centred?
Basically, what difference does it make which is the basic mark for zero windage? Once you know where zero is, you work from there.

unless its a safe queen, guns used for hunting, hiking ect can loose zero pretty easy while getting banged around. knowing that the middle line on the rear is zero windage helps alot.
