i got my m14 from frontier last week and took it out for a test shoot, i noticed that after several rounds the remaining bullets in the mag were rather severly deformed from slamming into the front of the mag from recoil. I know that it shouldnt effect accuracy too much but i still dont like it.

has anyone tried glueing a thin rubber/plastic strip inside the mags to stop this? or is this a waist of time.

i was shooting winchester power points
thanks

I doubt it will matter if you put something inside the mag because the lead tip will deform slamming into the chamber anyways. Remove the unfired round from the chamber after you fire the first shot and take a look at it. Chances are the tip will be mashed. If your worried shoot FMJ or ballistic tip bullets.

Ditto. SMK's work as well.

"...is this a waist of time..." It's a waste of time too. I kind of doubt a bit of rubber or plastic will stop it anyway.

Its my experience that M14's are known for their rough handling of ammo (both in the mag under recoil and during extraction). I'd suggest a bullet as recommended above FMJ BT .. curious how the SMK HP BT's stand up? Anybody know if they experience the same deformed tips under recoil?
