8X63 Swede

My 8X63 swede is pretty much done....Just need a better scope...
The Action and barrel is a FN 98 Husky I got from Trade Ex.
Camk re-blued the steel....and did the finish on the stock and glass bedded it.

First time out it shot very well......Camk has the target....I hope it will repeat the group....maybe he can post a pic

The load is Swede surplus brass,175gr. Sierra game king over 60grs. of H414....Just a tat over 2900fps

I plan to use it on spring bear this year...

The full military rifles in 8X63 do "bite" a little.....But this sporter takes the bite out of the recoil....More like a good shove....

The little bit bigger cases in the back ground are my "bigger" bear loads.

Was playing with my 8X63 today......I tried a few powders
H380 H414 But IMR4350 stood out above the rest.

Here's a group I shot with 56grs. IMR4350 topped with a 180gr. nosler BT.

I re-scoped it with a Leupold Vari-XIII 1.5-5X20

I love this rifle.

much better choice than the Bushnell Banner did you have to stick with them extension rings?

The banner was all I had at the time.....

that's too bad you have to use extension rings on that rifle.

I'll be tring a Bushnell 4200 2.5-10X40 on it next.....Maybe I can get away with std rings...although I find I need extention rings on most 98 mausers.
