Will shooting Hyper-Velocity ammo do any damage to the rifle or chamber? Not the ammo with the extra length to the case (Stinger/Quick Shok) but the normal hyper-Vel. like say..Remington Yellow jackets?

Also, is the CCI Velocitor o.k to shoot out of Annies or does that one have a longer case as well?

Just have to ask, its my baby and I am a worrier :D

Some quick test data for you:

Case lengths after firing:

CCI Standard .610"
CCI Velocitor .610"
CCI Stinger .712"
Rem Yellow Jacket .621"
PMC Zapper .616"

If you don't know your chamber dimension you could wax mould it but I'd say you'd be okay with the Velocitors, probably the YJ too.

I personally wouldn't shoot hyper velocity ammo out of your Annie. I am quite paranoid about this - heck I won't even shoot high velocity ammunition in any of my benchrest rifles. I would tend to keep the hyper velocity to some of your cheaper rifles - keep the annie to shooting target rounds or at the most high velocity rounds. They are not really made to cheap the cheaper ammunition with.

Will shooting High velocity or hyper velocity cause damage? I would say almost definately not on the high velocity ammo and probably not on the hyper but its not a risk I would like to take on such a nice firearm :)

Thanks for the reply fellows. I have shot Lapua Super Club amazingly well in my Annie and I am wondering if there are any Match Ammo with Hollow points ?

I have been shooting American Eagle 38grHP (copper plated) rounds in my GM barrel on my 10/22 and have found then to be a very accurate gopher round.
