Tactical handguard for my AR...

great POST, flaunting US and CANADIAN ITAR Laws and then posting it on the interweb.... why not post your address as well as the dealers name and address so that he can be fined $50,000 or more, and the Jack Booted Thugs can kick down your door eh.....

:slap: :slap: :slap:

It's for my airsoft

Alright, got my midwest industries free float handguard today. I read on the website that I only have to "simply" cut the delta ring off. Would a dremel be the only way to go about this? I would assume I have to pull the plastic handguard off first.

Anyone install a MI free float before?

Thanks

Get a pair of C-clip pliers and do it right.
pull the barrel and take the crap off, reinstall and put it together.
One slip and you've marked the upper or barrel up,why not take your time and do it right?

Here is a pictoral step by step instruction for the MI rails ( how to cut the delta ring without marring up the barrel )

BTW - the guy that posted this is "Stickman" who takes some of the best AR photos on the web. You see lots of his pictures on Arfcom

As already posted, the "best" way is to remove the barrel but unless you have the proper upper vise block and barrel nut wrench and punches for the FSB then dremel away. This is the big selling feature of the MI rail and other 2 piece is you don't have to remove the barrel.

utg made them for real ar 15 rifles and they just happen to be in the airsoft business. like TRW makes precision parts and happened to make m14 rifles.

I just installed a UTG from questar... It fits right into the grooved nut, very easy install. However, the top rail of the UTG does not align properly with the top rail on the AR. I am not sure if a more expensive unit would eliminate this problem..

I wouldn't mess around with the front sight and the gas tube. Far too much room for error. The Delta ring and component aren't worth sh*t anyway. Dremel will do just fine. It will take some time as the D ring heats up and the cutting is slow. To slip and mark up the upper/barrel is A) not an issue unless you're building a safe queen. B) almost impossible to do unless you're very aggressive with your tools. I cut mine off and all went well. my advice is to cut along the 3 or 9 'o clock position. Stay away from the gas tube area.
