What is the most tactical/ coolest non-restricted shotgun I can have?

He asked a question, and the answer is he cannot legally own anything at all.

No mob mentality...he needs to word the question different in order to be a valid post...

Maybe something along the lines of..."Please post pics of Short Tactical Shotguns, I'm getting my PAL soon and want to make a list of things I am interested in legally purchasing, using and storing"

No denying he could have worded his question a little more carefully. Many of us have learned the hard way that every word can and often will be taken literally. Maybe he meant "what can I buy next year when I have my RPAL", but didn't see the need to offer that much detail in this particular thread.

Maybe he's an anti troll (I doubt it),
Maybe he's just a young GunNut.

But, no matter what he is, WE need to remember who WE are. Every single time we write or speak about firearms, we are ambassadors for the sport. In some ways, we (us old guys, anyway) are responsible for the political climate that we now struggle with. Had we been better ambassadors over the years, we wouldn't have the uphill battle against the hunter and shooter stereotypes that persist.

Our monumentous challenge is to reverse those stereotypes, dismantle the leftists' social engineering, and convince an overwhelming majority of Canadians that guns are objects, criminals are bad. I doubt we'll ever get there picking at each other's scabs.:(

I like the Valtro PM5 and the Binelli M-4.

If I had the cash for a tactical shotgun I'd get one of those.

...Or I could just spray some bedliner on my chopped cooey 840 and then call it "tactical" ...and sell it for $400 on the EE...

Coltfan would it be possible for you to drop the attitude for one day? ;)
He's 17 years old and interested in firearms, not a literary master from the Tolkien fan club.

The best model to start off with would be a base 870! Its a reliable shotgun and you can add things as you get the money to upgrade. The Valtro PM5 is pretty cool but mags are few and far between and when you do find them they aren't cheap!

No one has posted a pic of the ultimate. An M-4 by Benelli:

Come on now, at least show him the proper model:

Agree, everybody need a 870. Grizzly 870 comes with 12.5" barrel - if tact-cool is what you want.

Nope, they're prohib as...get this....an AK variant, God I love these laws.

I think the HP-9 and Grizzly (Rem 870 clones) are an excellent place to start, tons of parts available and prices that can't be beat, for not a huge outlay you can build up your own duplicate of the US Border Patrols entry gun, and still be unrestricted (those guns due to barrel length are not commonly available in the US, considered an SBR)

I lust for that gun. My buddy knew I was waiting for one from wolverine and he went and bought it before I got mine. Bastard.... I went and bought an XCR because he was going for it next :) :dancingbanana:[

I have an old 870 that has an 18" slug barrel, 7 round extension and a Pachmayr pistol grip and forestock, it looks nasty and kicks worse, but for the ultimate tactical/zombie gun I like the Benelli M4 Super 90. The pics posted here are great, but they don't do it justice. You have to pick it up.
I actually managed to walk past the M4 twice when I saw it in the gun shop, but the third time I went in I had the owner take it off the shelf so I could look it over, let him talk me into taking it to the range out back (wasn't hard) . . . then checked the savings account quick. Worth every penny!
The ghost ring sight is great, but I mounted a Bushnell HoloSight on it, the civilian version of the military EOS and it shoots nice and looks very tacticool. The finish and the folding stock add to it, but the simple performance of the firearm is ultimately impressive. Had to tell the wife it was for geese this fall . . . don't think she bought it, but she has now adopted my 870 as "her" shotgun at the range. (She's also adopted my XD45 so I am going to have to stop letting her play with the coolest toys.) (She's a very recent American transplant, so she doesn't have a Canadian PAL yet either . . . don't tell, OK?)

As far as the age issue goes, I started shooting at 12 with my uncle's .357, and have been asking questions ever since, the inevitable stupid questions as well as the good ones. Got my FAC at 16 when things were more reasonable, had my own legal toys from .22's to shotguns to restricted handguns -- now prohibs -- for the last 26 years and still have the same curiosity and sense of wanting to see the coolest things out there that I had as a kid.
I am now a staff instructor for Corrections Canada and hear all kinds of questions about weapons and equipment and the actual legal ways to use our tools, questions that would never be asked if people were afraid of the response they'd get by asking.
If you don't ask the right questions, or if you are afraid to ask, you don't know. And something you don't know can get you hurt, or worse.
I think we are here to share our experience and our interest, not to exclude or put down anyone with enough curiosity to get on here and find stuff out. If you don't want to help the young ones, at least don't shut them down. Inform them of the realities, legalities and responsibilities. Then tell them the cool stuff! Heck, we all like to hear that. The cool stuff is half the reason we're here, after all.

K brah you can have any gun that is more than 26" and that is actually pretty short. I would recommend starting with the Grizzly short barrel because it's only like $300. The new ones come with ghost ring sights (a lot of dudes here put these on for a lot of money and they are very tacticool) and a screwable choke (the older griz that I have is just cylindrical bore... which is technically all that tactical ops teams use but its nice to have chokes incase you want to shoot a crow out of midair... which you prolly will want to at some point). By now, if you get a pistol grip stock you can pretty much apply for swat at any point and get in no problem.

If you want to spend more you can get a semi-auto which would be pretty sweet and very tactical. Hell you can buy some of the guns that you use in Rainbow Six and Call of Duty vid games. But you're talking like $1000+. I got a couple years on you and that's out of my range.

Here's the thread I stole the pic from:

This is the guys desc:

I'm not sure the min barrel length in the U.S. 14", 16"???

LOL, the one he mentions is the one Striker did for me:
remmy022copy.jpg

I personally think this is the coolest package out there, but I'm biased. :shotgun:
An old wingmaster, cut down wingmaster wood, stained and oiled, a smiley face cap, a 12.5 inch Dlask barrel, and Striker did her in OD for that old school look, which I so wanted. Frankly I think thats all you need, I had a sling loop ahead of the stock, but it tore my hand open when I fired it with my left hand, so its now gone, and I think it cleans up the lines. I still have the sidesaddle, but may dump that yet.

I have had the opportunity to shoot one of theese a couple of times now:)
All i can say is "WOW" I might have to sell a few things to afford one but it is well worth it:)

Anyone need a Kidney:)

the thing is he knows he can't have the stuff but he's asking anyway. That whats get me. Most of his post are "What can I buy" the simple truth is he can't buy anything. And he has not explained himself fully, as it seems by his posts he wants them yesterday.

I don't want to jump all over him either, but I think he could ease a lot of the questions about his intention by better explaining himself. I want knew shooters in the sport same as everyone else but he is coming off the wrong way. Something about his other posts, not just this one make my eyebrows raise. Others have pointed it out to him and he has thus far ignored them. Which to me raises even more flags. Maybe I am way off but it smells to me.

I think we should give the young fellow a break, its not as if he is in the equipment exchange trying to swindle somebody into selling him a gun without having a licence(I hope). when I was waiting for my licence, I wish I would have known about this forum so I could ask some experienced people what a good gun is. if I did maybe I wouldn't own 30:D. but we should give the kid the benefit of the doubt. I sure wouldn't have felt welcome if I had made an inquiring post and had a bunch of guys ridicule me. we should be encouraging young fellows to join the fight to help preserve our sport. he just sounds like a inexperienced young fellow looking to get some info from a bunch of guys who know what they are talking about. my restricted is on the way as we speak and I have a post asking about a good place to start for what I should buy for my first pistol. I'm glad I didn't get the same response this guy got.:(
