Gov't size 1911, single stack in 40cal? How rare are they in Canada?
Been looking at a Springfield Loaded 1911 but is there other 1911 on the market in 40cal single stack?
And are they avalaible in Canada?
.
Had a .40 S&W barrel made up as a drop-in for one of my Colt Deltas. Voila, cheap shooting with readily available .40 S&W ammo and reloading with "free" brass left on the local ranges courtesy of local law enforcement.![]()
Sorry for the hijack;
Do the .45ACP mags work for .40SW if one replaces the barrel?

nope... diameter of the .40 is not wide enough to stay put in a .45 magazine. you will need to find .40 mags or try 10mm mags. these mags will work in a .45 frame as the mags are interchangeable.
No, but if you get the 10mm mags, you can load the m to a longer length.

* 5" Barrel, 1911-Style Autos Only
* Capacity: 45 ACP - 8 rounds
* Capacity: 40 S&W/357 Sig - 9 rounds
Will Not Fit: Compact, Officer's Model, or "Commander-type" 1911-style pistols.
500 Magazine - 40 S&W & 45 ACP
New in Oct. '07 from Wilson, it may eventually obsolete their time-proven 47D Mag. It features the same feed lips as the 47D -
* Capacity: 45 ACP - 8 rounds
* Capacity: 40 S&W/357 Sig - 9 rounds
* 5" Barrel, 1911-Style Autos Only
New features:
* The follower is longer for increased reliability
* The spring is longer and thicker
* Flared basepad for improved seating
* Side "windows" are numbered
* "Windows" at rear make tube body stronger
* Mag body is longer than 47D, which makes it easier to seat (when fully loaded)
* Baseplate has numbers on the bottom, so you can easily number (keep track of) your mags
Will Not Fit: Compact, Officer's Model, or "Commander-type" 1911-style pistols.
