Guess?
I recently bought an SKS advertised as Chinese, but it was registered as a Norinco and is stamped with Norinco, but it also has the Type 56 chinese sympols and the triangle stamp is chinese. What do I have?

Norinco is an export company. Some guns were made for norinco and exported by them. Other guns came from military stocks and were export by Norinco or Poly. Norinco guns say Norinco on the side.

So is it a grey area to advertise an SKS as Chinese when it is Norinco?

cant tell the difference between chinese sks and norinco sks but i can tell the difference between early chinese and norinco . early chinese are ex-military and they are better made than the norinco.

so the ad using just the word chinese to describe a norinco is acceptable.

btw, dont get hung up with cfc registration , i got a sino-soviet (1956) that is registered as norinco , i guess to cfc all chinese made sks are norinco.

Thanks guys!

I wasn't too concerned, just curious. I tried to do my research, but there is a lot of info ou there and many different manufacturers of this rifle. The rifle is nice and now looks really good in the OD tapco stock!

yes indeed , there are tons of info , im still learning about the rifles i own . SKS are never boring.

altho you didnt post any pic or describe it in details , it sounds like your SKS are reasonably well made, it all depends on the price you paid.

Which is better? Pinned, or threaded?

Only matters if you plan to replace the barrel in the future.
Threaded would be easier...Just a bench vice with a wrench.
Pinned would require some heating and one hell of a gear puller.

Other then that no difference to function.

Unless of course you get one of the pinned/threaded hybrid abortions that found their way onto the market out of a parts bin a few years ago.
The barrel/receiver types are not interchangeable with each other.
