I'm too cheap to pay $8 a box for HM2 ammo, I can't figure I'll break with that particular tradition to try this stuff.

I like cheap when it comes to rimfire. I had a 17HMR and got rid of it. I can load match grade .223 for about the same price per shell with better results.

FYI....The jacketed .22 rim fire technology has been around for a while. The US Army was required to use it by the Geneva Convention, when it utilized .22cal weapons such as the " Hush Puppy"....

It was a silenced version of a Smith and Wesson model 39.

Fotoduck is partly right. The US military did have FMJ .22LR But they where for their survival guns like the AR-7 air crew issued. I was shown a box at a gun show by a cartridge collector.

You'd think the military would have found a way around having to use FMJ 22lr. I don't think squirrels and rabbits are considered enemy combatants

So a silenced Hi-Standard, instead. That would have been fed with jacketed .22's in "the 'Nam".

The Hush puppy was primarily used by the SEALS in the Rung Sat Special Zone, and was not widely issued outside of those teams. A different gun, a different purpose.

Most suppressed pistols got labelled "hush puppies", sort of like how many brands of tissue are carelessly referred to as "kleenex"...not technically correct, but the name stuck to the type of "product".
