Grand Masters

Why would they not pay?

They obtain the same services as the rest of the shooters. Mind you they tend to spend less time on the ranges and occasionally they use only one patch instead of two.

But hey often I only use one patch but for a different reason!

....I'm all for encouraging the highest level of competition possable...but I do not agree with Masters and Grand Masters getting a free pass.

Most of them don't want it in the first place...and it just opens them up to critisism from other members.

A few clubs around here do it...I try to discourage the practice...

Ok, if not a free pass, what about some groupies? Maybe a caddy to carry stuff around and pick brass. One of those little goody bags the movie stars get with stuff like free golf games, X-Box 360's, cool designer t-shirts....stuff like that. A masseuse would be great too.

Comments like this are the very reason I don't like the idea.

People tend to paint everyone with the same brush...so if GM's get a free pass...and you're a GM...you're an elitist regardless of if you agree with the policy or not...

It creates more problems than it's worth

FWIW...I've met my share of B Class elitists...so you don' t have to be good to be a prick ;)

I have always had difficulty with elitists.

I am not a GM, M,.or A for that matterm...but I get to shoot free all the time,...the guys in Nova Scotia find me entertaining,....I think they are laughing "with"me....LOL

In the Western New York Practical Pistol League (USPSA), if you win your division one month the next month your match fee is waived. I think those are the only matches I've ever saved the match fees at, and you don't have to be a GM to do it. They don't have any masseuses though, or groupies, unfortunately.

When your club holds an IPSC match do you make the Grand masters and Masters pay to shoot your match?

The question is redundant, there is only 1 GM in Canada and he is too lazy to even sign up for matches on his own.

Maybe there'd be more GM's is there were better incentives? I'd start practicing if being a GM got me a caddy and groupies. Screw comp'n match fees, I'd want my gas to and from the match comp'd. Let's bring it up at the AGM. What about chartering a private jet to get the team shooters out to Nationals?

there is only one ICS GM maybe, but there are a ton of regional GMs (which I know means nothing to you anyhow, but these are the ones being talked about in this thread).
No, GMs should pay just like everyone else. It's only back east that you guys have the rule about GMs being present to make a match a qualifier anyhow. out here we don't have that rule.

I haven't resigned myself to GM executive assistant just yet...just "he who gives gentle reminder"

Oh no, that's not what I meant at all. I meant that you should hire someone. IPSC Ontario should be able to afford it with all the GM match fees it is receiving;-)
