Finally got around to mounting a scope on my Norinco M14. Picked up a Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40mm mildot scope, Leupold PRW rings (thanks acrashb!) and an ARMS18 mount. After some fiddling (my first scope mounting attempt!), finally got this result;

Just sighted it in so far, but looking forward to shooting for groups this weekend!

Most scopes I see mounted on M14's seem way to high. Yours looks good and is probably more functional without having to have an adjustable stock. I run an Aimpoint on a scout mount on my M14 with the lowest ring I could find, works well.

The advice I got from Hungry was to mount the scope low, it just so happens I got the low rings via the EE. I was worried about the clearance, but it is fine, and I really like this setup.

The only problem (if you call it that :) ) is I now have to think up some other mods I want! Would love to put a pepper laminate stock on this, if I could find one and get it to Canada! :(

on one of my old norcs i sanded the stock down pretty well and smoothed it out a bit, and then used a dark stain on it, it came out virtually the same colour as the upper handguard.
made the rifle look a fair ammount nicer on close inspection

I kept hearing how awful the chu-wood was when I was buying the Norc, so bought a Boyds walnut stock just-in-case. After taking possession of the norc, I thought the chu-wood was not all that bad, especially to beat up at the range. Now I have the walnut in reserve. When it goes on, will definately do some sanding and polishing as I can see how it will really bring out the grain.
