Besides store shooting bought ammo I have been loading spreader wads for my older 16ga tighter choked guns with good success. Using BP's exreme spreader "X" incert, I get cyl to skeet patterns out of modified chokes and imp cyl from full.
Question is what would be the resulting pattern from a spreader shot out of a cyl or skeet choke? I'm thinking in Sporting Clays of fast close Rabbits & grouse (10 yards).
Anyone tried them this way?
Cheers. John

Can't report factually ( haven't put them on paper ) but Kent's "Velocity" 12 gauge Spreader loads( K122SL32-8 ) are popular with a few of the guys looking for a bit of an edge on the "close ones" in Sporting. The few I've shot from a Cylinder choke seem to be pretty effective under 15 yards on clays, and they've worked well for me on game farm Chukars in the first barrel of an older double.

I'm reloading BP spreader wads and using my improved cylinder chokes for skeet until my skeet chokes arrive. Is there some trick to seating these wads without damaging them? My machine sure crunches them when I use it to seat them in the case. Right now I am pushing them in with my finger. fred
