New shotguns, MAG-FED and SHORTIES - NEW PICS

Someone posted a series here where they were extended or internal depending on how many rounds you were willing to give up (length of the light internally). Wouldn't matter in this application of course. I don't know if it's a standard thread endcap on these shotties tho now that i think of it.

Still - nothing more fun than modifiying your gun :) Just make sure you can get replacement endcaps if you screw it up, they're usually pretty cheap.

Is this it?

It was either limit mag purchases or wait to import anything until after the games. Easy decision. We only got 30% number of extra mags to guns.

I think you made the right call, at least with the one extra mag I can practice mag changes and figure out how I'm going to pack them.
I too wasn't to happy about it, 30% extra mags.... I envision 80-90 % of these guns won't need more than the mag they come with. But IMO a small percentage of buyers NEED 5-6 mags to do a large field coarse in a three gun and have been patiently waiting to USE one in a match ( three this year for me ) only to be sidelined until next shooting season. I was almost thinking of buying one of each so I'd have 4 mags but I'd still be one or two shy.lol

really un happy that you can only buy 1 more mag, how they hell am i going to use it for 3 gun, kinda pointless me buying it now.....

Wouldn't you need a sample to make all kinds of neet trinkets for it that we'd all want to buy?
Like maybe the ultra bright flashlight in the tube idea?
Just a passing thought

About 50% are ordering a extra mag.

Dave,
One thing to keep in mind is that the mag cap holds the barrel on too.

yeah thats true but the barrel band slips over the threads so the outside is all that is needed to retain the barrel.

I do like the clamp portion of this, that is the idea I was thinking of to retain the light, this may just be easier, might remember if I can't make it work myself.

Anyone got a spare 870 cap???:D

I just got my Grizzly! I'm so happy! Its my first shotgun!

Are there any best practices I should be following for an initial cleaning/work in?

Should I wipe off the excess oil with a clean rag? Or?

I pulled the entire thing apart, sprayed every thing down with brake cleaner BUT NOT THE FORE STOCK it does not like brake cleaner.

then everything got a spray of g96 and a wipe down and then back togeather.

then go shoot it!

I got out last night with mine, I found the stock very nice, was a little worried about the alum. but stock being a little harsh but it was great.
shot from the hip nice as well.

about a 10" spread at 25yards with bird shot, no pics shooting plywood, only got about 10 shots in before sunset.

EDIT: Mag modification

I did have a Failure to feed once or twice, But was unsure if it was from a soft pump by my buddy or what.

I did notice a sharp edge on the inside of the feed lips, so I disassembled the mag and filed down the edge, ended up using a diegrinder bit in my drill very slowly, once all the edges until every thing was smooth.

Loaded it up with 5 spent hulls and they all loaded perfectly. a must do.

Being my first shotgun I accidentally disassembled it, It scared the #### out of me! I didn't realize shotguns came apart so easily. But I looked at some online video's and read some stuff and now I'm pretty comfortable with the general workings. Definitely a shock though when you go to pump it and the barrel comes off.

LOL

Did the spring and cap retainer go flying across the room too???:D

mine almost did I caught it, was not expecting a spring in a mag fed.

Do you have to Ithaca pump these?

they pump very smoothly and you don't have to slam it to cycle the action.

Actually yeah it did, but It didn't do it right away. It held on just enough that when I changed hand positions it shot across the room.

Anyway, Finally got out to take some pictures.. (the Grey blob in the first picture is a rain drop. it just started to rain as I finished taking pictures.)
