Full auto sks. again.

So i recently got an sks. I find it is going full-auto.
No cosmoline in the bolt.
Perhaps some ventilation holes in the gas tube could lighten things up a bit.

Check your firing pin for anything that would allow it to slam-fire? Is it in one piece? I bought a Hi-Standard SportKing pistol as a collector once, and lo and behold the firing pin was in two pieces (and slam fired the first time I loaded 'er up).

Other than that, I don't know what to say - not amazingly familiar with the SKS myself.

Make sure the firing pin is dry. No oil required. It should be able to rattle when you shake the gun.

your sks is new so disassemble the bolt and clean the firing pin thoroughly. i use a q-tip for where the pin goes.

are you using non-surplus ammo?

Does the hammer ever follow the bolt when you cycle the action?
I assume it doesn't slamfire on the first round.

That wouldnt have anything toi do with it.
Check that your firing pin is loose in the channel. Also, are you using surplus ammo, or american made ammo???

your fiering pin is held forward by something clean the thing it a very dangerous situation you could get killed by an out of battery detonation

I got lots of doubles when using the brass American ammo. (No slam fires)

Switched to the steel cartridges and everything is safe.

My Russian has an original one, it works well. I guess if your not big into cleaning after shooting, then an after market spring loaded firing pin would be a wise investment for you.

I switched my Chinese SKS over to the spring loaded firing pin system, was an easy changeover and I can now safely fire any commercial ammo out there without always wondering if it will dump the mag with one pull.

Are you sure you don't have the firing pin in upside down by mistake?

Brownells sells them, they are made by a guy in the USA, his site address is h ttp://www.murraysguns.com/sksown.htm . He is quick to ship and the firing pin and spring are top notch. Brownells sells his stuff for the same price as on his website.
