Metric Bolts

Ive spent 2 hours trying to locate a source for metric bolts m12X1.0 for my Czech 858 project:redface:, anyone know of a Canadian supplier for such large fine thread bolts? I've scoured over at least a dozen fastener suppliers webpages and none of them offer m12 in 1.0, the finest I can find is 1.25.:mad: Thats the thread to attach the stock to the receiver.
 
I just tried...Their webpage is down....Ill try again tomorrow. There's even 2 metric specialty places in TO and neither lists 12X1.0. weird choice in thread.
 
Go and have a chat with the parts guy at a car dealership. Bring measuring tools, and know what length bolt you need. M12x1.0 is used for flywheel bolts a lot, and other high strength "special" bolt locations.

It's pretty much a non-preferred standard size of thread, so it won't be hardware store stuff.

Tried a NAPA store?

Acklands Grainger? They may want you to have an account, if you call them on the phone, but like as not will sell for cash in person.

Look under fasteners in the phone book, for places like The Bolt Store, or Nut's and Bolts. (two outfits in Edmonton, from memory)

Phone some of the suppliers you find, and talk to a counterman. Most of these places are little beyond the technology level of having decent stock records, and few if any have their full stock online. Gotta talk to them. Need to be able to tell them diameter, pitch, length, head style wanted, etc.

The Nut and Bolt in Calgary has been very helpful, they will go throught hteir cateloges (sp) and find me the correct part - sometimes I need to cut one down for length, and you have to bring in a box, but still, $10 for a box is not bad. But they may not have some of those pitches - but they are helpful.
 
I spent a few hours last night, the only car applications I could find were Honda Civic flywheel bolts, and some shifter knob bolt, but both are under 1", there was some lada engine bolts too...but well...Anyway Brofasco lists them, but cant get them or even price them so I just ponied up and bought a 12X1.0 die. THanks for your help guys.

2 thumbs up for nut and bolt in Calgary. last time i was in there before i moved they just GAVE me the 3 bolts i needed. good company and very friendly staff
 
You can try Spaenaur in Kitchener. I am really considering changing all our hardware to metric because it is a lot more available now than imperial, not to mention that all he world is now metric, except one.
 
I've just looked up 'm12 x1.0 metric bolts/nut' in the Engineers year book and its a non-standard thread for high pressure applications, i.e. you will not get it at your local nut and bolt store. You are going to have to make it or get an original part.
