Alberta Draws are up

A friend and I drew the Wainright primitive weapons season. I am thinking about taking the first animal with my muzzleloader and then trying with my bow.

Here is a question - could you legally have both in your tree stand?

Good stuff on getting drawn for the Primitive (first season) of the base hunt. Huntsman and I tagged out last year with a smoke poles. Mule Deer are made for inlines!! Huntsman also got a beauty Whitetail with his Encore.

They are areas set aside specifically for the archers. Under no conditions can you have any other form of weapon with you while in those "archery only" portions of the base . However, you are not bound to that area just because you choose to hunt with a bow.

I would go "spot and stalk" or ground blind and leave the treestand at home.

WOO! I got Antlered and Antlerless mulie in the area I LOVE to hunt in.

I guess that means that barring excessively bad luck, I get to eat next year.

Antlerless MD and WT in 124. Collecting points on everything else this year. Still sweating the 'lope draw till Aug.
Son is doing the same thing.
124 is home turf so getting out will be simple.

This was my first year applying for draws. I went 0 for 4. I tried Bison, cow elk, buck and doe MD. Oh well, I'll get my fill of WT again this year.

Don't forget to check out the undersubscribed tags when they become available. Every year there are a number of draws where there are more tags than hunters that applied for them.

First time in 13 yrs I did not get a moose tag.

Didnt get Mule Deer either.

But I did get Antlered Elk...........hmmmmmm

I cant complain. Ive been overly lucky for the past decade.

draws

not an overly busy year for me either, was expecting to get drawn for mulie buck this year, had a high priority, nothing, got antlered moose out in 337 though. no luck on the bison either.

I really wanted bison, but didn't get it. Got 440 bull moose and 442 nt sheep. Along with general ram and elk tags it looks like I'll be spending lots of time crossing the Sulphur River.

There's no sheep on the other side of the Sulphur.....besides, you'd need a pretty good horse to get across there! :D

That 440 moose tag should be a dandy!

Went 0 for 4 but it was my first year applying. luckily lots of general licences available here. Will fill my freezer anyways.:)

Ya I heard there's no sheep over there, not sure why I keep going back ;). Some dude from Cochrane sold me a horse that I think can cross the river...

Looking forward to the moose in 440, it's a great zone, hopefully I'll have time to do it in the Willmore part with the horses, I'm looking for a big one this year!
