I am considering picking one of these up tomorrow, anyone have one or try it? I already have a G17 in 9mm but would like to try this .40 with the compensator. Your thoughts if you have experience with one.

With the compensator, the muzzle flash/blast is pretty unpleasant.
I have, and love, Glocks in 9mm...a G19, G17, and a G34.
I have had several .40S&W Glocks..G22 and G35, and never really got on with them...recoil made them less than pleasant to shoot and I let them both go.
If you are looking for a 'plastic' .40, I would strongly suggest that you look at the S&W M&P...I picked up one of the first ones in the country and was surprised at how it was much nicer to shoot than the G22.
I recently had my youngest (23!) daughter out at the range to get some 'trigger time', and she preferred the M&P40 to all of the other plastic/steel guns...she was also wickedly accurate with it at 25YRDS!
If you have a chance, I recommend that you handle/shoot one of the M&P's before you decide.

I have a glock 22C, its a fine pistol

To tell you the truth I don't find the C to make much of a difference, it is kind of a novelty, makes a bit of a flash but I never notice it when shooting, I only notice it when someone else is shooting, does make the top of the slide a little more dirty,

the good thing is that in the future you can just get a regular barrel and it becomes a standard glock 22

Hey thanks, but I already have a M&P .40:redface:

No difference for you huh? How about the muzzle flip, more less, the same?

I don't think .40S&W round requires a compensator.

Be that as it may, some people think we do not need more than one firearm or any at all. That does not or will not stop us from buying more. The question was what do people think of the pistol of interest. This hobby is a want not a need.

I don't know how you concluded the need to have a compensator equals the need to own firearms but whatever

I shoot my G19 and G23 with no comps and have no complaints. In MY opinion there is no need for comp on these.

I have a 20C, and the porting helps a fair bit with muzzle flip and felt recoil compared to a 20 I tried out....but it could be my sense of novelty as well. I would think the 22C might keep the gun on target a little better though....I would be interested to hear a side by side comparison with the same ammo.

What does that even mean?
Read my post again, no where does it say the need to have a compensator equals the need to own firearms. It asks what people think about the Glock C22, not whether the gun should or should not have a compensator.

I do not NEED anything was my point, wanting something and needing are two different things. Thanks for your opinion.

I agree more of a novelty most likely. I need pistol # 23 like I need a hole in the head, but I will most likely get it:redface:.

I've got a G20C and it's awesome. I have a G17 as well and the muzzle flip on both are small. I haven't shot a G20 to see how much of a difference there is though. I ran some pretty hot loads through the G20C and there was hardly any flame coming out of the ports. The only time I noticed it was if I was under an overhang and I was in the shade. Even then there was only a hint of flame. I might have to find some really slow burning powder and make some really hot loads and see if I can get some serious flame out of the ports. I've got a non-compensated .40cal barrel coming from Stormlake so I can use it to shoot in IPSC Standard. The ports of the 10mm put it into Open.

Get whatever floats your boat.

I've been shooting the same non-compensated G22 since 1995 and it's got thousands of rounds down the pipe. It's not very difficult to accurately shoot the .40 S&W off that platform.

The Glock 22C is a great firearm.
I have both the 17 and 22C and the compensating ports make a huge difference if you have the opportunity to shoot them back to back. I can hit much faster doubles with them than I can with the non-compensated barrel.

The whole myth of the flash making you go blind at night and whatnot is a total joke so disregard anyone who says this. I have shot mine in complete darkness ( to test this ) and in very lo light situations and never once been blinded or had it effect my shooting. I am also able to keep full view of my sights with the flash.

Ill post up some G22C #### for you later. Mine is so far from stock that I don't think its even a Glock anymore :p
