tritium - buy a good set of allen keys, taking apart 597 for a good cleaning requires some allen keys that are not common size found in cheaper sets.
You are right, you pretty much have to clean it thouroughly before you bring it to the range. Factory grease slows firing pin for example to the point that your rifle will not fire at all. And its a good way to get acquinted with your new rifle anyway.
There is a bit of trouble putting it back together, especially with guide rods and springs - nothing major and pretty much all self-explanatory when you see it.
it is up to you if you want to clean it from muzzle or not, I clean mine from breech. ther only trouble is that you will have to sight rifle in after you take barrel off and put it back on.
