Eotech on type 97

I would speculate that it would be too high. Also it would look ugly.
There were some posts about this on the other threads. The aimpoint Micro seemed to be what was used becaue of this.

I'll be keeping the Type 97 rifle that I get as an iron sight rifle. I'm hoping for a flat top 9mm based off the Type 97 one of these days. That's what I'll be mounting an Eotech on.

Well I did tried it on mine and found it was a bit to high with my 551. It was almost 5 inch from the barrel...The main problem is the bore/sight line on the type-97.

You almost have 3 1/2 inch with the rail without any sight on it yet...
so the sight as to be low, really low.

Second choice was the OKO. A bit better but the shield cover was a pain to remove and put back as soon as I wanted to strip the rifle completely. Was about 4-4 1/2 from the barrel.

So my last option was my new Aimpoint Micro that i've just put yesterday on it.
I'd say the dot is about 4 inch from the barrel but a lot more easy to remove and place back without any readjustment.

The main problem will be the adjustment of the dot and the bore line. Like few members did (as I will also do this week end), the adjustment was done to 75yards.

Anyway to have some kind of scout mount attached to the carry handle but drops down over the handguard kind of like the ARMS

it would only fit the longer barrel version but would look cool.

To field strip the rifle, no
But to to strip completely, yes since you have to remove the handle and the rail is partly inside the handle, so yes you need to remove the optic.

This is only my point of view cause you don't need to completely strip the rifle to clean it. The field strip is good enough.
