Chinese company Hawk Industries produces a line of pump-action shotguns for hunting and security / police purposes, which are based on US-made Remington 870 shotguns. Civilian and certain security-type models of Hawk line-up with tubular magazines are sold outside of mainland China under variety of names, often exported through the NORINCO corporation. It apears that versions of the same shotgun, but adapted for a proprietary detachable box magazines are intended mostly to government export sales, as those were demonstrated on several international Military and Police / Security exhibitions. The version of the tube-fed pump action shotgun appears to be adopted by the Chinese police (PAP) as the '18.4mm Type 97-1 Anti-riot gun' (the 18.4mm is the metric designation of 12 gauge).

Hawk pump-action shotguns are available in three basic configurations: standard configuration with fixed tubular magazine below the barrel, standard configuration with detachable box magazine, and bullpup configuration with detachable box magazine. The last modification is notorious for the fact that it has a massive horizontal forward grip, which is used to cycle the pump action but also contains an integral flash-light at the front. Box magazine fed versions employ proprietary single stack magazines made from steel. Police guns of standard layout (including Type 97-1 guns) feature rifle-type sights with blade front and tangent-type rear blades; bullpup shotgun features fixed sights built into the integral carrying handle.

I think most people following the thread caught on on after world.guns.ru updated post-Grizzly. Any remaining doubt would have been erased after seeing CanAm's pics and vid of the Grizzly-Mag.

Also, if the factories are now exporting under their own names now instead of under the blanket Norinco name, does this mean that other factories wil be doing the same? Given how long some of Marstar's items have been out of stock, you have to wonder if some of these factories and product lines are still running.

well if can ammo were to bring these in we could look at the idea of making a stock adaptor that would let you use our stock adaptor system on a semi auto 1100 like this.

You mean your AR stock adapter? That would be cool. The 1100 uses a different stock bolt than the 870 doesn't it?

I call bullpup sales:

I mean bullpup semi Anti-Hippie shotgun... yum yum yum...

It certainly looks like they have a whole different receiver... Mmm-m-m, could they be the first Canadian friendly bullpup shotgun

Really?

Obviously without look at it broken down I wouldn't be able to confirm but the receivers look operationally like the non-bullpup guns with different end machining where the buttstock would normally attach along with different bits hanging off the front.

ie you have a rough dimensioned 870 (and 1100). Instead of a proper mag tube, you run a long triggerbar from the forward to the original 870 trigger assembly area (you can even see the trigger pins on the bullpup). On the bullpup/870, you have a the action bars attached to that thing that extends out the bottom to work the pump.
