Hi all,

Pardon me while I go off for a few minutes in self-congratulatory glee...

I have reached my 1000th post on CGN (well, actually there were more, before the crash, but who's really counting!), and just wanted to make a point to say a few things...

In 1995, I owned two rifles, and was basically out of shooting all together. Then, with the looming new legislation, I figured I'd best get a new licence, and figure out if this old "U.S. Property" Enfield was worth anything. My toddler steps on this here new interweb doodad led me to the old Lee Enfield forum administered by Mark Bitting (rest his soul), and I was immediately welcomed with open arms by true gentlemen who were more than happy to share their seemingly boundless knowledge with a young pup, full of ignorance.

Years later, after the unfortunate death of the Britishguns forum (and administrator), I found CGN, and more importantly, THIS milsurp forum.

(I now am the proud owner of 5 Lee Enfields, my wife owns 2, and we have a small collection of more modern firearms, too!)

Of all the fora on the CGN collection, I am most at home here in milsurp land, where the prevailing attitude is still what brought me back from the brink of non-firearms' ownership before the internet. Always, here, there is acceptance, a sharing of knowledge, and harsh judgement only thrown out at those deserving bubbas who have desecrated our chosen items of historical collection.

You gentlemen (and the odd lady - and I mean "odd" as in uncommon, not as in unusual!) maintain what I see as the most welcoming of all attitudes to new shooters and collectors, and I just wanted to applaud you all for continuing to act in a manner which I see as most highly important in maintaining interest in historical arms, and in the legal shooting sports in Canada.

Thank you for reading on (and on, and on...), and truly, thank you for being here.

2 members of Britishguns made it to my wedding, and I hope to meet some of you in person over the years, and perhaps invite you to my next wedding... Oh, s&*t! I said that out loud again!

"Don't worry honey, I was just kidding!.... Honey?... Hello?"

;)

Congrats Neal, I remember when you were just a little tyke with 200 posts...:p

CGN is like candy......so good yet so bad. But the good is the better part. I doubt I would have what I do without this place.

Good people, good info, good help, EXCELLENT website. Nothing matches it anywhere.

Once again congrats

As Neal's CURRENT wife, I'd like to second what he said.

Especially as I was a total firearms newbie, and everyone we've "met" on Britishguns and here on CGN has been friendly and helpful. Thanks for not making me feel like a "dumb girl!"

Member since '04 and only 1000 posts... clearly you don't have as much time at work as some of us. hehehe (####e.. boss is coming... see ya)

P.S. Good on ya!

Ah yes Britishguns, almost forgot about that one

I also used to frequent CSP forums as well, but that got too old and CGN is better in so many ways.

congratulations on your 1000 post by the way, and only 5 enfields whats up with that.... not even a fair sampling of the basic enfield family unless you have at least a dozen :D

Hey, I'm still young: give me time!

And also, I really would like to keep the current spouse - as understanding as she is, there is that whole mortgage payment vs. rifle money argument that just never goes the way I wish it would... But, she does come with other benefits (and talents!).

Actually, yes (relatively recently).

Believe it or not, but he is actually very happily married now, and should actually be a father by this time, if I recall correctly.

Singapore Airlines also allegedly trusts him to train pilots!

(Will wonders never cease??)

On the down side, he is pretty much done with Enfields now, and is pursuing those... (loathe though I am to say the word)... m- m- mausers(!!?).

To each their own, I guess.

How are you keeping, Dean?

Neal

Vulch is doing the Mauser thing? Last I heard he was getting into Mosins...? He sure does like posting pics of his Ruskaya Princessa through.
