It's a '44 Faz with a SK mount and a eyepuncher Bushnell 3-9x32.
The forestock is glass bedded and a thick varnish coat. Metal finish is quite good with the only painted part is the barrel band .
Serial numbers match on the bolt , mag , forestock but the receiver is different.

So , I went to it and stripped off the varnish , rubbed in abit of BLO and replaced the Bushnell with a 2.5 Ruko

This very light stamp appeared on the butt. It's E^A in a circle as opposed to India's post independance S^A...East Africa ?

A man's gotta do , what a man's gotta do .
Beating back the heat , 'skeeter's and ticks I took a box of mixed wartime ammo , some Canadian , Brit , cupronickel and copper pills. Set up a hasty 50yd target and had at it from a standing postion. Recoil felt was alot less than what I expected....my 1st time shooting a No5.

Worked in the scope and sat down with the ticks for the last 3 shots .
I got to get this to range out at 100yd.

What you actually have is:

I^A
S

In side a circle. It stands for Ishapore Small Arms Factory. What you think is an "E" is just wood bruising from a ding in the stock.

This is a REALLY common inspection mark on guns used in India.

Let's just say I wasn't about to get a closer look at it
I got into a 1 punch fight with a scoped 7mmMag...I lost.
...have abit of a phobia over such things now.

With that S&K no-gunsmithing mount, I'm not surprized of your results: I have exactly that same mount topped with a Bushnell Scopechief VI on a sportered No.4Mk.I and it regularly outshoots many commercial rifles.
PP.

Don't ya just love it when that happens ;)

I've gained respected confidence with this mount . It seems to be a step up from the ( similar) ATI mount.
