Yup, I will keep this one... (Long Branch No4 Mk1*)

Very nice Lou!

If you are thinking of heading to the range this weekend, let me know, because I am thinking of going.

That thought has occured to me Claven2. Mind you, I have a +0.3, and maybe a +0.45, I'll have to crunch the numbers to see; I just put on the rifle the first one I found yesterday, which happened to be a -0.15.

The forarm does push upward, dead centre on the muzzle with 7 pounds of force; and the barrel is full floating (I think but I may check that one tomorrow).

Try running 174 or 180gr @2440 fps and see how they adjust to elevation at 100yards

But I like 150 grains!

Just kidding. Yeah, I re-read some litterature on the behavious of the barrel depending on the load and the bullet. Man that's really cool science / balistics / wizardry. People warned me reloading was fun, but that far exceeds what I expected.

Still, I'll likely go up a size or two on the front sight, pretty much all my previous refurb'ed No4s had taller front sight. I wonder what others have on theirs?

Thanks for the tips guys,

Lou

someone on Gunboards in the Longbranch #4 survey related having a brass butt on a '42 I believe it was. Mind you who's to say what went on when during repair/refurb, especially during the major post war FTRs. But you're not the only guy with a long branch with a brass buttplate.
