Just got to test my new Norinco, i am very impressed. I have been using Sough African Nato surplus and i have nothing but good things to say about it. It was very easy to sight the iron sights in and i was shooting easy bulls at 50 meters.

Now i have been noticing that the nato surplus is quite hard to come by lately

My rifle is stamped .308 winchester, so i guess im ok to load that round as well?

cool, thanks, pain in the a** to find the 7.62 ammo, i paid 105 bucks including taxes and shipping for 140 rounds of surplus ammo, but i saw the prices at the winchester website, 22 dollars for 20 rounds of fmj 150 grain, wow

I don't have a problem finding ammo for mine. Federal/American Eagle/Remington/Winchester all ranging from $12 - $30 per box of 20. Not 7.62 but 150 grain. Some FMJ some soft points.

I was at the Range (Twin City Rifle Club) on Saturday with a good friend who bought a new Norinco M305. This was his first time out with the new rifle. He couldn't track down any surplus 7.62 so he bought some Winchester 150gr UMC.
The very first shot he took was his last. The spent casing is still stuck and the barrel broke off at the action.

That's a first from what I've heard. Post some pictures if you can and let us know how the supplier of the M305 / M14s deals with this. Is it a 2007 model? Did he thoroughly clean the gun? Certain of no barrel obstructions?

Another example of why I like Norinco products so much. Sorry to hear about your friend's rifle - Glad nobody was hurt. Quality control: a great phrase for the new Chinese government capitalists to learn...

(Flame suit and helmet on, in my hole... Danger Close!)

The M305 was from the latest batch of Norincos that Marstar got in. No barrel obstructions - my buddy gave it one last thorough cleaning at my house before we went to the range.

Some of the guys at the range who witnessed this suggested that:
1) the barrel wasn't properly heat treated
2) the barrel wasn't properly installed at the factory
3) 1&2

I'll see if I can get some photos to post.

Ellwood epps sold one that failed that way, no problem returning it to the supplier. Out of thousands of rifles some will fail.
