I figured PoliceOrdnance would offer Glock Armourer Training courses still, but none are listed on their webpage:mad:. Are these courses still available to people or do you have to go stateside to take them now?

Yes I know there's a tonne of information available online, I'm just interested in taking the course for my resume- and personal interest.

Glock schedules these courses directly and are ridiculously ANAL about who they will let on this course. They will only offer it to anyone outside of Canada if they are in law enforcement or an importer of thier product. That's what they told me when I tried to sign up for a course last month in Toronto.

Thats really ghay. In otherwords, if your Glock screws up your forced to take it to policeignorance directly...Unless you know the armourer at your local police station who can take a look at it. It's not like its a complicated firearm... Only in Canada could a person stand up and wave $500 around asking for someone to take their money for education and get snubbed. (I stand corrected, see attached link)

I just googled it and came up with the same thing stateside-- here's a form for any LEO's interested in signing up.

Once again this issue deals with the State Department, and requiring authorization to attend the course or courses, this is unlikely to change any time soon.

+1

They need a butt load of paperwork so they can "export technology" to foreign users.

Not really anything to do with Glock or allowing CIVIE's to get the skills.

I took that armourer`s course and like you said, it`s for LEO instructor`s and recognized Glock importers or Glock service centers. They don`t want regular Joes to strip Glocks beyond removing the slide, spring and and barrel from the frame. Their claim is that anything beyond that should be left to a trained armourer.

That`s a far cry from Smith&Wesson who encourage civilians to sign up for much more intensive courses on much more complex weapons at their beautiful facilities in Springfield. If you want real training, try that! The Glock course was interesting and informative but very "Mickey Mouse" compared to anything S&W has to offer.

That Smith&Wesson idea sounds fun, thanks Sasquatch807 Ill have to look into that. Springfield...I wonder if they have a monorail?

There's some interesting programs listed...heres a handy coldlink: h ttp://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CustomContentDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=11101&content=10503&sectionId=10503

This is true.

Plus you are required to fill in an Export Permit for the export of books and knowledge.
