Hello all: Are Electronic calls legal in Ont for hunting these days? ie deer or moose? I recall that in the early 70's they were not legal------has that changed? Thanks for your help.
 
Your NOT allowed to use an electronic call for turkeys. Predators and varmints are ok. Dont know about deer and moose though.
 
Thanks to all who have replied--------still unsure of the law. Can't find anything in the 2008 Hunting Summary 'encyclopedia' and trying to call the Ont. MNR is like trying to pee into the wind........frustrating and dampening!!

I built my own electronic moose caller and asked the MNR for their input. They assured me that electronic calls are LEGAL for all game EXCEPT waterfowl and turkey in Ontario.

Anybody have a section from the reg's on e-callers for deer, moose, etc? I personally haven't seen it anywhere and would like to have something on paper before I set up calling deer with an e-caller.

100% you can use them for everything but turkey and waterfowl.

im just too lazy to get the link for ya...
 
I love using the foxpro it gets those yotes going good. I havent used it for anyhting else but varmints but its not illegal like mentioned above only for water foul and turkeys is it illegal.
 
Look under Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act 1997 in Ontario Regulation 665/98, Part IX, Sec 50, Moose Hunting. You will not find anything about using electronic callers, so they are legal, same goes for deer. If you look under the Turkey hunting part you will find and it states that electronic callers are not allowed for hunting turkey. If it is not allowed the Regs, Act or whatever will tell you.
 
illegal for turkeys. how come people keep buying them? electronic are absolutely illegal for turkeys, but you may see the calls for sale in stores.

Lots of cities bordering the USA sell turkey calls, they are legal in most states, and as dumbdawg pointed out, they are a useful tool in practicing your calling tecniques.
