Dissipators

nice rifle matty, musta been tough to part with...

Rich, ACOG is great. I was deciding between puttin it on the ar or the classic green but wanted to shot with irons on the cg for now.

The grip....well if its comfortable keep it. Looks like something the predator would use hehehe

You know bud, if it were anybody else, I would simply write you off as a straight out a$$.

However, as such your comments are duly noted, and will be subject to verification, when I do my own experimentation.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Obviously the CF style cocking handle is not for everybody, but for southpaws, it's the only working solution I've seen, and I love it.
Besides, I've put literally 10s of thousands of rounds through my C8 with one of those cocking handles on it. The CH has outlasted one barrel, and is halfway through the second. It's been painted at least half a dozen times, and worked hard, and it's still going strong.
By the way, Esquif, I've yet to have a "misfuction" that had anything to do with my cocking handle

I will admit that it sucks for right handed shooters, because the handle's extension sticks out towards your gear during carry. Not a problem for lefty's, because it sticks out away from the body. Also I can't see the latch being a REAL problem unless you're trying to carry your rifle by resting it on the curve of your gut during a BFT. :p

The badger ord. tac-latch sticks out too, about half as much as the CF style lever. I don't hear all the people who pay to put those on their guns complaining. In the end, I think a lot of people put LCF over functionality.

By the way AbH, what kind of rail system is that in your first pics?

Cheers.

TimH:

Thanks for the comments.

This is my personal gun, so I went all out where I could, the configuation has change a bit over time, but I think I have setteled on the one I want to start testing. The rail is a Troy 12" MRF-R 2 piece free float tube, and I added a DPMS TiN coated SA bolt/carrier group. Will leave full specs when I post some new pics shortly. Must say to this point I am very impressed with it. Very solid unit.

Deckard:

As far as I know, no one sells the above mentioned as an entire unit new, but you can buy the latch and install it in a regular charge handle.

I got the entire charge handle with latch in the picture in a used parts deal. I'm not sure where to get the latches now, but I saw BadBoyBeeson had some and I took his last 2. Send me a PM if interested and we chat.

I am not sure who makes it - but it is the one off the C7A2 - and I had a bunch of pictures of bent ones.

It is REALLY big - and not only does it (and the Badger GenI versions) constantly click in and out wearing the lock portion off the upper receiver over time - but they get snagged and when a righty cocks it with the left palm - it can pressure the setup and bend and bind.

Not to mention getting caught in gear etc.

Ok, I definitely have to concede the wear & tear on the upper receiver. The "slot" on mine is pretty much rounded off. :p

Once again, I've never saying the the CH is for everybody, just that as a lefty, I find it an improvement. On a side note, the latch will NOT fit around a PRI gas buster CH. I took mine to the weapons tech, and instead of trimming the little latch, he milled off enough of the cocking handle for the latch to work. Painted it black again too, pretty gracious of him.

It's a range gun,not a war rig.
what gear is there to get it caught in?

His plaid shirt?

Your comments are very apprporiate. One of the optics I have is an IOR 4x24 M2 with MP9 reticle, that I hope to use in an A.R.M.S.® #35QD™ Throw Lever® Mount, the other a Leupold Var X-III 4.5-14x50mm with a 30mm tube, side focus, and mil-dot in an American Defense recon QD mount. Man AD puts out a great product, Larue better watch out!!

What scope caps did you end up using, I would like to get a set

Well Gents here is is, and will work with this configuarion for some time to come. I added a Power custom Ambi Mag Release and an extened bolt catch handel, and must say I am pretty pleased with the change in handeling. Tyring to get my hands on an Ambi-Selector.

Had her out for function test, and worked really well, as long as the ammo was good. Will start load development soon with select brass Hornady 68 grain HPBTM and some WC735.

Yes Adam, switched the grip to a MagPul MIAD with the enhance trigger guard just for you.:D

Any questions or commest that are constructive would be appreicated.
