Looks like it says DIEMACO on the blade which would make it Canadian made. What is its designation and is it general issue?

green - they are made in Germany. The one I had clearly said made in Germany, but it also didn't say Diemaco on it. All the others I've seen have been made in Germany.

Personally, I just use my LanCay M9, but it doesn't fit so well in my tac vest, so I usually have it secured to the webbing straps at the back.

Well there goes the last item of kit that had been constant since 1991.

In 2003 I stood guard in Bosnia and counted all the kit that had changed from 1991 in the Gulf. From socks and boots, underwear and helmet, CADPAT and Goretex, Thermold to steel mags, C7 to C7A1, everything I was carrying or wearing had changed at least once - except for the bayonette and green canteen.

In 2008 I put on my gear in Afghanistan and did the same head to toe inventory. Over six years most of the kit had changed too. Although I wasn't issued a bayonette, it would have been the old standby. The next rotation had the German bayonette on their vests. So long old friend, but when a grunt needs to cut wire, he shouldn't have to carry another tool to do it.

(But my little Wonder Woman talisman hasn't failed me yet. She with me around under my helmet cover.)

Canadian Bayonet

I was watching something on the History channel a few weeks back and they were using current (at the time of the filming) Canadian troops to show examples of how the Canadians attacked Vimy Ridge. All of the troops were carrying the new bayonet fixed on their C7's.
The older C7 bayonets from Nella were stainless steel and would break easily. The early ones with a square hole in the shank were recalled because they would fracture easily. They were checked and destroyed. I used to buy C7 bayonets from Nella privately and I have the complete collection of bayonets.
The US M7 bayonets were made from carbon steel and were tougher than our stainless models.

Then maybe it's time for some photos of said collection.:)

Here's a small pic of some of those bayonets for the C7/M16 series. I think I posted this before, but here goes anyway.

L-R Bayonet 2000, Nella C7, Phrobis M9A1, US M7 German made Colt stamped.
