That is one hell of a nice looking rifle.
Its very much like 414 except a lighter grey color and the granule size is much less uniform ranging in size from 414 size to almost microscopic...almost like a pistol powder would be if it were added to 414.
I'd like to see what the new Winchester powder Supreme 780 looks like as its supposed to resemble a flattened ball powder.
THAT is a pretty little gun. Think the Rugers look better with that shorter pipe...
I've already got a .338 Win Mag because I'm a hopeless luddite and slow to appreciate the various new kings, but the truth is, the rifle's got a 26" barrel and it isn't getting any shorter. How close to 2900 are people getting with 225 grain bullets?

No problem, I've never played "guessing games" with powders having been an avid reloader since 1962.
I was merely trying to compare its appearance to some of the powders I have on hand and had no intention to use any of them.
The powders I'll start with will be absolutely safe both by burn rate and amount used.

After a range trip, I couldn't agree with you more !!
The rifle is a dream to shoot, nice trigger, comes up well, and best of all, manageable recoil.
Now about the ammo....groups ranged from 1.3" to somewhere between 2" and 4 ".
The tighter groups were comfortable to shoot and fairly consistent, 1.31", 1.44", 1.67" not in that order. Fired cases came out of the gun with no effort and case expansion in front of the extractor groove was 0.004" to 0.005 ".
The large groups or patterns were something else, bear in mind this is all ammo from the same box. Extraction was very difficult, bolt lift quite hard, the gun smoked when fired, recoil was noticeably stronger, primers were cratered with a couple starting to back out of the case and case expansion measured the same was 0.008" to 0.010.
Also, after the bad rounds were fired there was unburned powder in the barrel, not a lot but visible from chamber throat to muzzle.
The fired cases are burned a reddish color on the neck.
If I had to rely on using only Hornady ammo at this time the gun would go up for sale, but as it is the rifle works so well that once I'm loading for it I will probably have about a dozen others to part with....its definitely a keeper !
