Still want to buy another handgun but less expensive. Still 9mm...

All I care basically is a little accuraty and a good trigger. (Tell me about the triggers). Something basic but fun...

Springfield XD9 (find it good looking), glock 36, SIG 226 or ???.

I saw a few threads but you guys don't tell the reason why they're so good.
 
baby eagle. I think you can get one in reasonable shape for 400-500$. I shot tight groups with it and it points naturally for me.

Although I enjoy Glock very much I'm more inclined to lean with either of these pistols. Glocks are not super accurate and going from that gorgeous pistol you have to a Glock will feel like a downgrade no matter what way you slice it. Whereas the 226 is still a boutique feeling pistol, weight is balanced nicely, you can get the match barrel for it and ultimately it will be more comfortable to shoot (once you throw a set of Hogue's or other nice grips on there).

I agree.. I wouldnt be comparing the Glock to a Sig and saying one is way better. As far as Im concerned they are all duty pistols and they all shoot very well.

I think the CZ 75 or SP-01 would be a very good choice in 9mm as well.
 
I recently recommended the CZ75SA single action 9mm to a friend...and now I wish like hell that I had one. :D

Is the CZ Shadow basically the same gun but with a light rail ?

Nobody said a thing about the Springfield XD9... Is it that bad ?

CZ's run great, til they break. A shooting buddy has broken 2 extractors in 4k.

Admittedly, most people never shoot that much anyway, so it may not be a problem.

:rolleyes: I never said a Sig is way better than a Glock. In fact I never said Sig is better at all. It's simply what I would recommend instead of a Glock in this instance.
 
If you're particularly concerned about the trigger and you've been spoiled by an STI then you would probably want a SA or DA/SA gun as opposed to a DAO or "safe action" trigger (which takes the vast majority of the plastic fantastics out of the running).

That's my fear. Always had 1911 except for a brief stint with the CZ. Triggers were prept by Gunnar and where smooth at 2 pounds.

Anyway, from what I read, I think I may go with the Shadow...

I'll have to sacrifice something to get the AR I want.

This was part of my consideration in recommending the Sig above the Glock.

In regards to the Shadow, I don't think you're going wrong with that pistol at all. Are you thinking about the competition model? You'll definetly want a decocker if shooting competition. Strangely enough, the decocker isn't available on the other models.
 
Having been a Glock shooter for years, now I shooting a SIG P226, I still love the Glock, but I have never shot an all around better gun then the P226, but that is for me, you may be different. I think that the P226 is a great gun, it is built well, relaible and super accurate.

The SP-01 comes in 3 (ok - 4 now) flavours: base, tactical and shadow. The shadow has the fibre-optic front and Novak rear. Only model without the firing pin block id the shadow. But it doesn't have a decocker. The decocker is on the tactical (which is approx 80 -100 bucks less). But the tactical lacks the good sites and DOES have a firing pin block.

The base - I think - has a regular safety like the shadow.

New flavour is the 'phantom' I think - lighter weight, a few other dingles. Not sure if it is available yet.

The shadow was once a custom-shop offering only via cz-usa, but was so popular it was moved into production. Though the trigger is probably not what it was coming out of Angus' production workshop. Shadow is now on IPSC 'production class' list: it can be shot DA first shot, or you can ####&lock for more fun in standard class shooting minor. Sounds like a great gun. I hope so: I have one on layaway for some day in the future when the gov't gets all my paper work done....

This is all theoretical stuff though: I've handled but not shot this gun.
