Seems to be a bit of a common challenge here: maintaining patience with gov't offices. But I haven't seen this one asked yet:

How long does it take for Ontario's FSESO to 'approve' test results sent in by instructors?

My understanding is that this org over-sees instructional material for the province, and has recently (??) put a new policy in place: instructors must send test copies to Orillia BEFORE releasing the 'student' copy to the student. FSESO then 'approves' the test and sends the student back a copy, which is then part of the application to Miramichi.

I'm just back from my mailbox and still no student copy. Over two weeks waiting for this step in the process. Getting annoyed - everything else is good to go and how hard can this part be??? No background checks except to make sure the instructor is still certified? I even filled in the return envelope address myself! Oh - I should have added a stamp I guess.

If I remember correctly, I got mine in under 2 weeks.

A friend of mine did his courses/tests on July 12/13 2008, and received his paperwork back from the CFO on July 25 2008.

My instructor said if we don't have it within 3 weeks call the CFO office. And no, you didn't need to stamp the envelpoe. They run it through their mailing machine.

If you move to the rest of the country you'd have the thrill of leaving the exam with your copy in your hand. No shortage of jobs in BC and Alberta, and I'd sure as hell rather have shooters get those jobs than Liberal sheeple.

So I'm hearing. I wonder if all shooters are less liberal to start with....or does dealing with the beurocrazy just bleed any liberal blood out of us as we go? I know that I'm feeling more and more like we need a Stockwell here in the East.

All the same: not sure if I could handle all the friendly people and good times. Geez: I'd lose my primary reason for visiting the shooting club. OK - secondary reason.....

I am thoroughly liberal (small "L") by inclination. I find most Conservative (large "C") policies simple minded and counter-productive. When William Occam coined his famous adage in the fourteenth century, it was almost always true. Now, all the simple questions with simple answers have been solved and the remaining problems are fiendishly complex. And, in quantum mechanics, if you can even understand the answer it means you have it wrong.

Who, me? Stir the pot?

Did you ever notice that the only subject on which the Conservatives do not go with the easy, obvious answer is gun control? Guess what is the only Conservative policy I agree with.

Well said. But as humanity disintegrates towards the 'whimper,' we will all become despots - individually and nationally. While ultimately cynical, conservatism at both levels will protect what's ours til the end better than the cooperative approach.... Darwin had that part right. Or maybe more correctly: E.O. Wilson.

Hey - f@$k it. We're still doin ok. I just wish we had some political parties that were willing to hire experts in complexity theory.

:weird:

Back on topic...still waiting. But I figure I'll give it a few more days before phoning CFO.

I believe I used an upper case L - which was indicative of something. As was the use of the perjorative "sheeple", I'm sure that wouldn't apply here.

I may be liberal by inclination but I am certainly not Liberal. I have never voted Liberal in my life. Nor Conservative, nor NDP. I vote Green.

As for sheep, I refuse to discuss my love life here.

I passed the tests on July 20 - still no official results back from Orillia. I was told to call 1-800-731-4000, press 1, then 1 again, then extension #7514 if I don't receive the student report within 4 weeks.
