So I've had my 10/22 for a while and haven't really done much to it. The only thing I've done is sand down the bolt release to make it auto.

I want to modify my 10/22 quite a bit so I've made a list. If I'm missing something you guys think is necessary, please tell me.

Tapco AR-15 stock (cabelas has it for 90 bucks)
GM barrel (I'm still looking for a place to get this, so if anyone has recommendations, please do tell)
Volquartsen Hammer and Sear (Everywhere seems to be out of stock)
Bolt Buffer
TI25 magazines (is there a better place than the TI website? )

If you guys have recommendations on where to get these things, I'd really appreciate it.

Will I need an edge extractor? My 10/22 didn't have any problems the last few times I went to the range with cheap ammo.

If your extractor is working well, don't bother swapping it out until it gives you trouble. One of my older 10/22's still has the factory extractor with no problems shooting cheap ammo. My 10/22RR had problems from the beginning and would only reliably cycle CCI Minimags. With the VQ extractor, it will now eat any ammo on the market with no troubles.

One of the best changes i've done to my 2 10/22's is a extended mag release. The first one I bought, the second one I made myself. It makes mag changes alot easier.

Bolt Buffer: 'Tuffer Buffer', Ronin might still have some? Do a search on the forum for them, if you have too.
T6 Stock: You can also try brownells
GM barrel: No Idea
Volquartsen Hammer and Sear: Rimfire sports, hawktech, and probably brownells again
TI25 magazines: Just TI, why buy from anyone but the manufacturer? They'll let you purchase 4 of the composite magazines.

Extended mag release as mentioned is another good idea, and what kind of sights are you thinking of?

You got pics of your custom mag. release??

lone_wolf: Hey, thanks for the info. I'm glad there's knowledgeable people on this forum.
I'll check out the tuffer buffer.
T6: Do brownells ship to Canada? I just tried to order from Cabelas but they wouldn't let me.
GM barrel: I think fabsports has them but they're OOS, do they usually get more?
TI mags: The mags are 37 bucks each and I thought there was the 100 dollar limit thing?
sights: I have a scope on there right now. Is an extended mag release really necessary?

I took out the factory mag release, drilled a hole in it, then threaded the hole, I found a screw without threads near the end that would look good(IMO), it was a little long so I cut it down, than spray painted the screw.

With the extanded mag release you can grab the magazine with your hand and with your thumb push foreward on the mag release and pull the mag down.

If you have access to a TIG welder you could weld something on there that would work the same.

Try FAB Sports

All sounds pretty good to me. But I'd also add a VQ extended bolt handle and a hex take down screw. Check out hawktecharms.com

:D

And get the extractor! One of the best/cheap mods you can do!

Brownells ship to Canada and you won't need an import permit ( and Brownells has temporarily suspended applying for export permits) as long as the total value of the gun parts is under $100. (you can add non-gun parts to the order.) As the stock lists for $99.95 right now i wouldn't wait to order it in case the price goes up over the $100.

Okay, so I've ordered the following
Tapco stock from Brownells
pc adjustable hammer/sear/trigger kit and bolt buffer from hawktech arms (volquarsten was over 100)

Things I need/want
GM bull barrel
extractor
extended mag release
extended bolt handle

I think the barrel comes first but fabsports is OOS so I guess Ill contact them to see if they get more. I'm going for the black stock with stainless steel/silver parts.

Bits of pieces in Vancouver, has an order of Green Mountain Barrels coming in, and the husband and wife team are very nice to deal with.
Barry is the owner and Gunsmith

Yes Tapco is not a EVO or a Nordic but it's not the same price.
