It depends upon the version that you buy. The Ohio Ordinance VZ 2000 does not suffer from the "Gremlin" that the Canadian versions (or even US, CZ version) of the Vz do because of the different approach to the semi-automatic trigger mechanism that OHO went with (caveat: it will cost you however as teh VZ 2000 is by far the most expensive import of the VZ out there). Once again, Canadian/American differences apply here. Also, what part of this discussion verges on the "illegal?" Nothing said here violates US law, but I am curious as to the Canadian side of the concern.

Yeah, I'll take a pic tomorrow and post it up here. The striker in the VZ2000 is the cumulative width of the two individual striker plates on the original Sv VZ.58 (about a half inch wide). I would not have noticed really except for seeing all the pictures that you guys have posted here concerning the "gremlin". After seeing you guys photos of the internals on the CZ 858's I had to go look and mine it's worlds different. Also, in regards to US 922r, the OHO VZ2000 is the only version of the VZ with all of it's compliance parts internal, ala the unique approach that they took to get the semi-automatic status. VZ 2000 is also the only US Vz that still has the bayonet lug and proper Blue/Gray Czech paint.

Come on guys …you cannot compare the US clones to the Canadian ones……with all the US compliance parts etc.....not insinuating anything ......but I so much hate commenting in these threads (that’s why I never do -1) …. There isn’t one local 858/58 that came through my hands that I wasn’t able to fix within minutes, with their so called “gremlin paranoia” ….
paul, im not really comparing , im trying to pin point where the problem lie .
if it was that simple then why couldnt wolverine fix this problem permanently? i recently bot a cz858 with known gremlin , a gremlin that was suppose to be fixed , not.

1) That gun is not ridiculous. It's cool. It might need some green duracoat though.
2) Any gremlin issues should be fixed, and even over fixed, in the CR. Here is a land of over-engineering (think of the complexity of their guns) and yet they let these go overseas without addressing this?

While I agree most of the rifles with the problem can be fixed in a few minutes with some tweaking. It still remains an inherent problem in all the rifles without an autosear or something done to change disconnector timing.
It is not so prevalent that i would worry about it as a range rifle, but If my life were to depend on my vz58 going bang I would not accept "well this rifle doesn't seem to have the problem" I would change timing to make inherent problem non existent

Is this rifle available in Canada, or through an importer service like Questar? I don;t see why it wouldn't. The Czech one is approved (and non-restricted if the barrel is long enough). Would having a few US-made internals change this?

one of the US dealer (ww.cz-usa.com/news_events.php) sells them for close to $1000 with only one mag but have seen them on gunbroker.com for $800 , other places even lower but regardless its not worth the extra cost of importing.
wait a month or two , you will be able to buy some new line of VZ from marstar , hopefully at about the current price .

1250 bucks for the US made version... The single stack Czech ones they import (and then mill out the mag opening to accept double stack mags) are a few hundred bucks cheaper. The OOW has a US made receiver, plus all the US made bits and an extended muzzle break permanently attached to get the length up to just over 16".
