Can I have this barrel tapped for chokes or is the barrel to thin, and If I can get a choke installed will I still be able to install a set of ghost rings ? :shotgun:

IMO for less money than you spend on having it threaded for chokes (keep in mind you still need to buy the chokes), and buying/installing ghost rings you can buy a Grizzly from Can-Am that has those features already. having owned both, the Grizzly is at least as good a gun as the Mossberg 500.

the old lady freaks if I have to many firearms in the house (why ?, I don't know). Got to work with the platform I started with :(

You could always sell the mooseburg and buy the grizzly?

To much invested in it (and I'll never get what I have spent on it, besides I like it), I got multiple barrels (for a wide range of hunting & fun) and aftermarket goodies for it. I'll just go chokeless and get the ghost ring sites.

It would me nice to see some aftermarket tactical barrels for the Mossberg 500 (in the set up I want). I'm sure they would sell pretty good

i would hazard a guess that 99% of women cannot tell the difference between a synthetic stocked Mossberg 500 and a synthetic stocked 870 clone. the trick is not to let them see them both in the same place.
my g/f has no idea i have as many guns as i do because i stash them in different places: some are lent out, some are in the safe, some are in a closet, a couple at the cottage, etc.
if she saw them all in one place shed have a conniption fit.

First off, deal with the old lady now not later.
And always remember its easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission.
+1 on the Grizzley platform, had a 500atp, good gun but I sold it for a loss and went to a Griz mag with zero regrets so far.
But for the sake of curriousity, what exactly do you expect a choked 18.5" barrel to do?
To me the simplicity of the original barrel should be the tacticool way to go, less parts means less thinks to potentially go wrong.

I'm heading south to Innisfil to hunt deer on some farm land with a cousin this fall (tree stand hunting) and I wanted to tighten up my patter on my buck shots. I was under the impression that you could only use shots down there, but after some "investigating" I discovered you can use rifled slugs, so I'm going with that.
I could still use a choked 18.5" barrel tho, hunting grouse in the thick bush were I live. :shotgun:
