Anyone else seen the Auto Ordnance GI model 1911A1 .45ACP pistols yet?

Just handled a brand new one at the local dealer's this afternoon and as a USGI pistol afficionado I was very impressed. Very nicely done and a very good copy of the 1942-1945 era mfg USGI 1911A1's. Right down to the park finish, GI sites and brown plastic grips with reinforcing rings around them.....

Wondering of there are any CGN site sponsor dealers carrying them yet?

I thought I saw one at TSE once a while back. I heard Khar has improved them quite a bit.

That would be the case from the example I saw today. I had a NIB pre Kahr Auto-Ord 1911A1 .45ACP circa 1990'ish and it was a giant POS. The frame safety catch did not work at all. Jamma-matic. A real PIA. I shortly returned it to the dealer I had bought it from and traded for something useful.

This new example I saw today gave me that shaky "I gotta buy another 1911" feeling that has been dogging me these past 25 years or so......lol... :D

I see that AO is now offering the "WW2 PKZ" with wood grips, as well as the plastic-gripped model. IMO, they have a couple of features that put them above the equivalent Springer GI model, namely the correctly styled thumb safety and the lack of the fugly "US" grips. The wide spur hammer is just icing on the cake.

M1911.org had a favorable review of the PKZ HERE

Any Idea on price point? I'm Interested to say the least.

Local shop here in Victoria, B.C. is selling them for $699 [+taxes].

You can buy one for me instead! :D ;)

capp325, except for Taurus, my experiences with firearms manufacturers has all been positive. I find them and their techies to be honest and helpful. If you have received negative help from Kahr enlighten the board. Regards, Richard:)

Her bikini doesn't even match.... she must've been drunk when she got dressed....lol... :D

I consulted with experts, by which I mean my #####, and it agreed that we don't care who dressed her, and how it happened. She's still overdressed.

The question is, would she take a chance on a Kahr/AO 1911?

Liability? Maybe its cheaper than retooling a line that is already building series-80 stuff?

Note to self.... get some Pepsi to go with the Captain Morgans at the barbeque later.....

Since you're not drinking real rum, I guess it doesn't matter what you mix it with....... :p
