The grip looks like it is tightened down too much on one side... should not have the seam visible like it is

WHy is it dangerous to show the serial numbers? Would a gangsta erase his and copy the new one? That makes no sense! I could go to any store any time and pick up dozens of serial numbers. What is the problem?
