I am looking for a rem 700 sps tactical or a savage model 10 fp.
Which one, would be best money, quality and precision.
I saw many thread talking about savage having all kind of problems?
I have a nice bushnell elite 4200 6-24 x 40 waiting to be mounted on one of these. Any comment would help.
Thank you

Personally I prefer Savage for accuracy, and precision. Fit and finsh seems to better on the remington. But Savage has better barrels and for most part are more accurate. What I find Savage lacks is quality of magazine and stock, something can be easily taken care off.
Problems have been more so with Remingtons, as in firing pin, primer crating issues.

I would go 10fp

I have the 10fp 26” barrel 1/10 twist 308 in a Choate sniper stock. It out shoots all of the 700 at my range. Only cost $750 the only thing negative about it is you can misfire the acutrigger if you are wearing gloves. That being said the trigger is great and crisp at 1.5 lbs just be careful if you use it to hunt.

i aslo own both, i found the remingtons action was quite stiff out of the box, not a problem with the savage. savage is more accurate of the two....but not by much. the remington has way more aftermarket options. i think go savage

go to a gun shop and hold both.....buy which ever feels best:sniper:

If you like dog#### factory stocks then its Savage all the way, baby!

Hmm...funny. I don't think either manufacturer is going to give you a premium barrel in a stock factory configuration. It's been the case for quite some time now. Truly a hit/miss situation to get a barrel that will exceede cutomer expectations for accuracy and ease of cleaning.

As for Savage barrels being "better", you should make that claim to some of the disappointed FT/R buyers who've paid big money for a factory set up only to have barrels not worth their weight in scrap metal. I truly feel bad for these guys as they've been duped big time. Good thing Savage has stepped up to the plate and have tired to "right" a "wrong". Kudos to them.

Firing pin and primer cratering issues? While I've heard a couple of guys say they've had complaints I've never had any in the (15) 700's I've owned/still own in the last 10 years with most of those being bought new.

Thats true about the parts. But with savage you don't have to do anything but shoot. For best performance I would get into reloading also.

Oh, so Savages don't repsond well to having them bedded or triggers adjusted? Savages work decent for budget conscious enthusiasts but they aren't magical. Any rifle will generally have it's accuracy improve with a little work.

Bottom line, for most people using non-modified factory actions, it boils down to bullets and barrels. It really doesn't matter whose name is on the side.

The choat stock is great and the 10fp can come with it or Mcmillian or Duramax for a small fee. and your still are paying less then the BDL.
I don’t know what else I could do to improve my rifle accuracy The trigger is nicer then many BDL’s I have tried and I did not have to do a thing. I have approx 2000 rds down range with it will accuracy drop off a 5000 I don’t know, but at that point I’ll up grade the barrel. Lets face it most of us should spend more time on the range working on our shooting skills rather then tinkering with our rifles. here is a few rics of my pop gun

Nice rifles
I already reloads all my rifles.
Just got an offer for a rem 700p, the price is not bad and I like the rifle.
How is it? any one has one ?
It's more expensive than the 2 other model but the specs are different too.
