.257 bullet for Deer

A few years back I shot 2 deer with one bullet,100 gr. X in a 257R. Did not see the fawn behind the doe.DAN>>>

Darn, that happened to me to, except with a .270WSM. My daughter and I had three deer down instead of two I sweated and agonized over what to do? report it? let the yotes get it? ) or get busted. So I set the clock radio for 2:00am and retrieved that doe and well, that's the end of that story

I've been using 117grn Nos BT with good results but decided to switch to 110grn Nos AB for my 25-06. I was impressed what a 200grn Nos AB die out of a 300WM on moose and decided to make the switch.

I made the plunge and ordered a box of 110gr AB from bartell.

Anybody got a good recipe to share? I figure I'd be using H4831, unless I run out, then I'll have to dip into my Varget/RL15 which I don't want to (not really suitable?).

My 25-06AI likes RL22 behind the 120gr SGK hpbt with a CCI LR BR primer and win brass.

I finally got the gun togehter and put some initial loads together for the range.

The rifle is a.25-243AI, on a Stiller action, and a 24 inch Gaillard 1:10 twist bbl.

I used Nosler accubond 110gn, RL 19 (47gn, 2950 fps) and CCI LR #200 primers. This gave 2 inch groups at 100 yards.

Nosler Partitions 100gn, RL 19 (49gn, 3050 fps) CCI LR #200 primers, this gave 1.5 inches

Finally Barnes TSX 100gn RL19 (48gn, 3050 fps) CCI LR#200 primers, this grouped at 0.5inchs.

To be fair it was the end of the day, and I only worked up 2 powder loads for each, but since this is for Deer in Ontario, so if I do not get much more time to work up load, the Barnes TSX will be more than enough.

I also have a load using Berger 115gn VLD bullets, these shoot bugholes, and I will use them for matches and varmints if the opportunity presents itself.
