Hi. Let me start this off. Mine remains in cheap & light form so when it's disassembled and strapped to the back of my motorcycle rattling down an FSR, I'm not anxious about an "expensive scope". :dancingbanana:

A varmint-hunting rig

This is not mine but here's a New Zealander's idea of what can be done with the Papoose.
Can a Canuck top the Kiwi?

Details here and here.

Can we be permitted silencers/suppressors? ;)

You're right; not an entirely fair challenge. (Excluding non-functional fake-suppressor fashion accessories :jerkit:)

But a high-capacity drum mag would be legal and useful on such a fun plinking rifle. :)

Or a folding stock... that would reduce the taken-down length of the longer of the two pieces. By my calcs, 9"+ can be folded/removed/telescoped from the Papoose stock and still have it considered non-restricted.

I thought the Kiwi's bipod modification and barrel laser (for checking scope zero after reassembly) were smart.

Another iteration of my Papoose... it's still just 4 lbs, including cheapo Tasco scope, Harris barrel-clamp for a swivel stud, and ATI glass-filled nylon bipod.

I wasn't thrilled about clamping something to an otherwise free-floating barrel but it was an experiment. First experience with a bipod... my gawd it makes for relaxed and fun shooting! I put 300 rounds through it this afternoon and except one strange bolt-stuck-open problem (that I solved with a clueless disassembly & reassembly), I love this little rifle. I was happily making Loonie-sized groups at 50 yards with a bit of luck. I know that sucks by many of your standards but the whole rig still breaks down in seconds and fits in the little case, which makes me smile even more. :D

I've yet to find a hi-cap mag on that model of Marlin. :(

Tell me you haven't envisioned adding a short-short barrel to that lovely Marlin pistol-grip. :D

Good idea. :)

Here's a mockup, for fun, of a mod in the opposite direction. Keep the 16" barrel and cut down the stock to a pistol grip only. A very laid-back pistol grip. And maybe an awkward balance. But the papoose is so light that cutting off a good portion of stock leaves it weighing not too much more than some pistols...

Est. OAL: 26.8"
Est. weight: 44 oz.
Est. classification: non-restricted?

Now, who could think of - gasp - such a thing  :
