I'd buy a 7mm SAUM (Short Action Ultramag). You get all the benefits of all the 7mm's plus it hasa cool name and is "Ultra"!

It is has been such a slow seller that it will soon be difficult to find brass.let alone factory loads.:D

Hey dude, why not a Lazzeroni 7.21 Firebird.

I can find you the gun (Sako) and you find the ammo. I think that one is faster than all the others mentionned here.

I have a single-shot 7mm RM - what kind of cool s**t can I put on it besides the fricken laser.

maybe a red dot sight

You want to talk cool $hit my next build is going to be a .375-50 BMG. Imagine a 300 grain bullet at over 4500 fps.!!! It will shoot FLATTER than a laser!:eek::eek: (It will be sooooo much cooler than your puny laser equipped 7mm Magnum!)

The 48" barrel may be a little awkward to carry in the bush but to tell the truth I don't plan to use it for mountain hunting anyways. Hell! I will be able to mount it on the roof of the pickup - like the jeeps I saw in the old Rat Patrol TV show - and shoot the damn goats from the road at the bottom of the mountain. I am pretty sure I can teach the lab to retrieve a goat from the top of the mountain and save these old legs of mine a bit of abuse.

I plan on mounting a Swarovski STS-80 HD High Definition Spotting Scope on top to use as a scope as I think I should be able to paint on a pretty decent reticule with the fingernail polish my wife found in my glove-box. (I have been looking for a way to explain the polish and this might be it.)

isure the gun is good enf for most ppl , but when u have $$$ y not spend it on some thing you want to last?(i want the gun to last more then 10 years so i can give it to my kids)

Don't worry about ten years from now. With the improvements they have made in the last ten years, I would expect that ten years from now the RUM and the STW will be so slow compared to future guns that your kids will have no use for anything with a trajectory.

No offense, but you sound like you're not a very seasoned shooter. The RUM and STW will recoil more than you will want to handle or likely be able to shoot well enough to hit an RC Car (WTF that's about I don't know) at more than 300 yards. You really should be starting with a 308, which will do everything you want and not beat you up. However, of the three you mention, the 7mm Remington is the best choice for you.

i LOVE the kick , that is y i want to go biger , after 2000 shots it is nuting (i am close to 280lb's , more kick the better , i am also looking at a .50cal Steyr HS50 that i can get for $2400 used :evil:not for hunting for for long range

Well if you love recoil, get the 30-378 WBY. That way you can hit RC cars from at least 800 yards. Make sure you shoot it prone position of course, with just a t-shirt. I don't think a TC comes in that though...

at close to 280 lbs, you should try hunting. Get a little exercise and little more protein and and a lot less carbs.;)

no way - you need 7mm Ultra Mag - it will kill better, further, with less felt recoil and it will have longer barrel life for better 600 yard accuracy

what round are you comparing this to? kill better? bullet placement is more important and any of the above calibres will kill equally as effective....and longer barrel life? i don't think the ultra mags are known for their long barrel life.

X2 stick with the basics...they work.
