what round are you comparing this to? kill better? bullet placement is more important and any of the above calibres will kill equally as effective....and longer barrel life? i don't think the ultra mags are known for their long barrel life.

BS

Hit deer anywhere with one of the big boomers, and it's dead. Bullet placement is overrated, when you use a big gun.

X2 When you hammer em' with a RUM, all internal organs instantly explode. Luckily the ribs hold all that goo in...:cool:

Starpussy, go buy a gun wouldya....:wave:

Ain't that the truth.

Roy Weatherby proved that in Africa by shooting hippos in the toe on purpose just to demonstrate his cartridges could shock an animal to death.

Ain't nothing like a "Big Boomer" :shotgun::sniper:

Ok Gatehouse i guess you know more than every gun writer since the beginning of time..a gut shot deer with a 7RUM is not necessarily going to drop dead.

My original statement about bullet placement being more important still stands...i don't know how you can sit there with your donut in hand and say that it's BS..i never said it was the be all end all but for an extra 400 fps the 7 RUM has over 7mm Remington Mag i hardly think it makes much of a difference, my friend growing up gutshot a doe with a 7mm remington and it ran for quite a distance before we recovered it the RUM doesn't suddenly change everything.

foreleg? haha alrighty...not even worth commenting on.

The shockwave from the energy dump, transfered by the leg, will make it's way into the animals nervous system, resulting in death by hydrostatic shock and/or paralysis.

This is apparent to anyone that has used the big magnums to hunt.

If your friend had been using a 7mm RUM, the deer woudl have dropped on the spot due to hydrostatic shockwave and energy dump. Bullet placement is really not that important with the bigger cartridges.

I hate that i actually took you seriously for a second...ughh...damn you

But at 4 or 500 yards, the 7mm is too slow for the bullet to open. Nope, your better off trying to burn it with the Ultra. More humane too. You think the deer want's to tell all it's buddies at the pearly woods in the sky he died because of an infection caused by a 7mm Remington? That's as bad as saying he was shot with a .30-06 for crying out loud!
