Not the best pictures as I took them a while ago and the gun isn't mine so can't update them easilly.

sten36.JPG

Unload the Sten and remove the magazine. Located at the back in the locking stud for the stock. Press this in and slid the stock down to remove it from the gun.

sten37.JPG

sten38.JPG

Press the locking stud in and give it a right turn.

sten39.JPG

The remove the locking stud from the receiver along with the recoil spring.

sten40.JPG

Pull the bolt back to the "Safe" position and pull the bolt handle out

sten41.JPG

Pull the bolt clear of the receiver. You will need to depress the trigger to get free movement of the bolt.

sten43.JPG

Hold the receiver and pull the locking pin at the front of the magazine well.

sten44.JPG

Rotate the magazine well down (or up as shown in the picture)

sten45.JPG

Unscrew the barrel shroud.

sten46.JPG

m192822.JPG

Pull the bolt back.

m192823.JPG

Turn the receiver over and the bolt will fall out.

m192824.JPG

Slide the remaining parts forward again, and pull the "H-bar" out. Then pull the last part of the bolt back and take it out of the receiver.

m192825.JPG

Disassembled Thompson.

MP.43 / MP.44 / StG.44

Might need to update these some time.

mp449.JPG

To disassemble push the retaining pin out.

mp4410.JPG

Pull the stock off, being careful to hold on and not bend the recoil spring.

mp4411.JPG

The trigger group hinges down

mp4412.JPG

The Gas piston, bolt carrier and bolt now pull straight out

mp4413.JPG

mp4414.JPG

Operating rod / bolt carrier and bolt.

Nope, but the link has been made before.... more than once! ;)

to be honest, these are all from my website which makes it easy to jump in like this (otherwise it's a lot of work!)

The bren links to your PPS-43 disassembly instead of Klunk's Bren.

I wonder if these instructions are identical to the SSD repros, or if some their semi-only builds require changes to the disassembly process.

Thanks, and fixed.

I know that the basic instructions for the BD.38 are the same as the MP.40. At a guess they'll be similar for the semi-auto MP.44 as well.

The Beast: DP-27

dp273.JPG

Nothing to me exemplifies the simplicity of Russian small arms design quite like the DP-27 (commonly called the DP-28 in the West). I call it the beast as you can see it is a rough raw machine designed to do one job with minimum fuss.

For these pictures I've removed the bi-pod from the gun to make it easier to take the photos but it is not necessary.

dp273.JPG

Pull the cocking handle back to free the gas piston from the gas tap on the barrel.

dp274.JPG

On the left side of the receiver there is a stud locking the barrel in place. Press this and twist the barrel.

dp275.JPG

The barrel is now free to be pulled out.

dp276.JPG

Receiver and barrel.

dp277.JPG

Let the bolt go forward and unscrew the holding pin on the right side of the receiver, located above the trigger.

dp278.JPG

Hinge the stock down, I give the stock a tap with the heal of my hand to get it started.

dp279.JPG

Turn the receiver over and locate the leaver on the bolt carrier/gas piston.

dp2710.JPG

Lift the leaver up, applying some forward pressure.

dp2711.JPG

The bolt carrier/gas piston now slides to the rear out of the receiver.

dp2712.JPG

Bolt and carrier, unlocked

dp2713.JPG

Close up of the bolt and carrier in the locked position.

dp2723.JPG

Inside the receiver

dp2726.JPG

The trigger, again nothing fancy.

dp2727.JPG

Tracks in the bolt carrier that close the locking wings on the bolt. They are opened by the forward movement of the firing pin.

bas,

NICE web site...

I notice you state firing full auto is verboten but ownership isnt (that must be hard)

If the gun is select fire...can you still use them in the semi mode?

So long as you don't get caught :D

But in all seriousness, no live ammunition is to be used in C-cat firearms. Blanks are ok for re-enacting.

Sometimes it's hard but I barely have time to shoot the regular guns so wanting to shoot the full-autos is not an issue.

PM1910 Maxim Part 1

Another great piece of history, the Russian 1910 Maxim. This one was made in 1943 and probably retro fitted to accept steel belts post WWII.

Part one: disassembly of the mount.

maxim191029.JPG

maxim191030.JPG

Using plyers remove the retaining pin from the rear elevation adjustment.

maxim191031.JPG

Un-screw the nut on the bolt that secures the action to the mount.

maxim191032.JPG

Pull the retaining pin out

maxim191033.JPG

You can now lift the gun straight up and off the mount.

maxim191034.JPG

I put the retaining pin back so it does not get lost.

maxim191035.JPG

un-screw the bolt that holds the locking ring in place.

maxim191036.JPG

Seperate the ring and pull it forward to clear the mount. Note that on the front of the pintel there is a groove to accept the bolt of the locking ring.

maxim191037.JPG

The upper mount can now be lifted off the lower half.

maxim191038.JPG

Maxim191039.JPG

The parts.

PM1910 Maxim Part 2

maxim191040.JPG

Lay the gun down in the upright position

maxim191041.JPG

At the back of the action above the grips is the lock for the top cover. Press this forward and left the cover up.

maxim191042.JPG

maxim191043.JPG

#### the gun by moving the cocking handle, on the right, forward.

maxim191044.JPG

Lift the bolt straight up clear of it's running tracks.

maxim191045.JPG

Release the tension on the cocking handle and give the bolt a quarter twist counter-clockwise.

maxim191046.JPG

Pull the bolt straight up to remove it from the action.

maxim191047.JPG

Complete bolt

maxim191048.JPG

Push the T-shaped split pin out of the bolt.

maxim191049.JPG

Do the same for the other side

maxim191050.JPG

The bolt parts now slide free.

maxim191051.JPG

maxim191052.JPG

maxim191053.JPG

maxim191054.JPG

maxim191055.JPG

Disassembled bolt

PM1910 Maxim Part 3

maxim191056.JPG

Lift the feed block straight out of the receiver.

maxim191057.JPG

maxim191058.JPG

Feed Block.

maxim191059.JPG

Release tension on the recoil spring by turning the handle (at end of cover) clockwise. Take care not to release the spring.

maxim191060.JPG

Push the spring cover forward to clear it off the locking studds on the receiver.

maxim191061.JPG

If you unscrew the spring, it is easy to put it back together when re-assembling. Remove the spring from the cocking handle.

maxim191062.JPG

Recoil spring in cover

maxim191063.JPG

Remove the T-pin that locks the grip plate in place.

maxim191064.JPG

Push the grip plate up. You may need to use a wooden or rubber mallet and tap the bottom of the grips.

maxim191065.JPG

maxim191066.JPG

maxim191067.JPG

maxim191083.JPG

Remove the recoil booster from the front of the water jacket.

maxim191084.JPG

Unscrew the booster.

maxim191085.JPG

Barrel pokes clear from the water jacket.

maxim191068.JPG

Remove the left sideplate by sliding it out, again you may need to use a wooden or rubber mallet.

maxim191069.JPG

maxim191070.JPG

Remove the right side plate.

maxim191071.JPG

maxim191072.JPG

maxim191075.JPG

Pull the barrel and bolt tracks out of the rear of the receiver.

maxim191076.JPG

maxim191077.JPG

Barrel, bolt tracks and cocking handle.

maxim191078.JPG

Lift one track up to free the barrel.

maxim191079.JPG

maxim191080.JPG

Pull the trigger bar back and lift up to free it from the studds on the receiver.

maxim191081.JPG

maxim191082.JPG

Empty receiver.

maxim191086.JPG

Disassembled.
