Anyone check to see what the new Sabre Defense ARs are selling for?
Carbine and Rifle are the same price....................... $1999.
Wonder what make them so dear as compared to all the rest of them for sale?
Heard maybe its the Nitro proof marks and the fit. If its something worth while please enlighten me.

1:7 twist barrels, 5.56 chambers and whatever barrel length you'd like (subject to availability of course) combined with the fact we can't get most of those options from the United States anymore.

So with shipping over from Britain I think that's why they cost so much.

The Law of Diminishing Returns ...

... is well-illustrated here. I paid significantly more to buy a Stag rifle, compared to the Armalite that I originally considered.

Two CGN factors at work here ... the experience-based comments about the Stag's quality, and the rep of the distributor.

I cannot imagine paying even more for a Sabre unless it was machined in a commune of happy Swiss elves in a remote Alpine valley known mostly for great air and water and organic produce ... out of a solid billet of forged unobtanium ... and everything else was NASA-spec carbon fiber.

Which I don't need ... I'd rather spend the money on moderately-priced but good quality tequila.

You guys are funny. Here you are complaining about Sabre being expensive while State Department neuterers AR coming from the US or will shut the exports altogether.

When LMT were selling for 2K they were beeing scooped like hot-cakes and nobody was complaining. Sadly those are not coming in anymore as well.

So be thankful for fine folks are Wolverine for importing those guns.

Importing from another source does not justify high prices. It's called profiteering.

or maybe with the low Canadian dollar against the Euro, it might be more expensive than another source. Not to mention shipping and all the customs crap you have to go through. As others mentioned...colts and others are retailing for signifiantly more. But alas, they are not available anymore due to State Department restriction.

not this crap again...

Low dollar?? not 9 months ago...

I don't make this up. Check the exchange rates and buy/sell rates for exchange. 9 Months ago maybe but not everyone has stock from 9 months ago and has to buy it at this rate. I just had to buy some goods and certainly noticed the exchange rate.

You also have to remember that just because the dollar is up against the US dollar doesn't mean it's up against the Pound or the Euro. Also, all that "NAFTA BS" doesn't apply so import duties apply.

The Law of Diminishing Returns ... Redux

Y'all seem to have missed my point.

The Stag is great ... seems flawless so far ... the Armalite probably would have been just fine.

This whole Rolex-pioneered marketing schtick should have been deep-sixed / outed years ago.

Although I do have to concede that "there's a certain go-to-hell joy about owning something that's made a whole lot better than it needs to be."

That's a quote by Harry N. Roberts.

Some people want a rifle that they plan on keeping for the rest of their lives and as such it is an investment. What is the big deal about paying a few more hundred dollars for a rifle that you may keep for life? The Sabre rifles from Wolverine are on par with LMT and Noveske and are comprised of parts that are no longer available from the U.S.

9 Months ago maybe but not everyone has stock from 9 months ago and has to buy it at this rate.

It was regurgitated a few times- when consumers started asking about when prices would lower due to the exchange rate- that it would take time for the prices to reflect the change and specifically orders in the firearms industry are placed months (9-12) in advance (even more so with AR's)
Wolverine announced Sabres availability last year....
Sabre didn't send god knows how many rifles C.O.D.

Would Wolverine sell it to you C.O.D?
...if the dollar goes lower....what? Are they gonna start charging $3000...$3500?

you dont seem to realize that while the CDN is strong against the USD, it is ONLY because the USD is falling - NOT because the CDN is getting stronger. Against the world currencies, the CDN is just as useless as it ever was. In fact, it has been falling steadily with the USD for the most part.

Take your heads out of your asses, read up, understand, and THEN #####.

Otherwise you are just sounding like a whiny ######.

Mr. Moderator ...

Isn't there some kind of a rule about juvenile personal insults?

The well-reasoned "tone" of this thread went all to hell at 6:26 a.m. this morning. One person can't make us all look like goofs, but stuff like that sure as heck isn't helping anybody.

Obviously some didn't follow my advice...

Optics

It's about optics ... not "optics" as in scopes and stuff, but about the way things look.

I think that most of us ... Conservatives, Liberals, NDP'ers (hey, even Bruce Coburn admitted on the CBC to the guilty pleasure of a fondness for precision shooting) ... we can all agree that Rick Hillier did a great (very tough) job.

Mr. Hillier has bigger balls than the last very large bull (out of five) that (where I work) we haven't been able to move / corral yet.

So ... do you think that Mr. Hillier would be really pleased to learn that this aforementioned Nemesys goof would be going out on patrol "over there" with his son / daughter?

I don't even know of Mr. Hillier has kids ... just surmising ...

Very doubtful ... this Rick guy is smart, and "tested" ... you don't earn that kind of unconditional regard otherwise.

Or dating his other hypothetical kid? I think not.

All those who think that I might have a point can just read and move on. (50 hits per hour, maybe.)

Disagree? Step-up and say why. (50 hits per hour, maybe.)

Plus ... hang on here ... I live in Alberta and I think that kd laing is the catsass. I don't give a damn that she's ### ... she's been riding a Bonneville for years and years ... and that (along with her incredible talent and "I am me take-it-or-leave-it" attitude) makes her one of the good guys.

And there are probably several CAF warriors (and I use that great word with reverence and respect) in our armed forces who agree with me.
