Morning.

Looking for a little help with this.
I recieved an early BTT infraction yesterday morning @ 9:04am.
The moderator reported it as a six day rather than seven early BTT.
The ad was posted on the 5th of Aug and yesterday was the 12th. (A total of seven days as per board rules).

I've tried to resolve this with the original moderator but am not getting a response.
Wondering if anyone has a suggestion for an alternative route to resolve this?

If another moderator would like a copy of the original post and what the moderator identified as an infraction I'll forward it along.

Thanks for your time.

Mike.

Your first post was made at 9:51 PM on the 5th, your second was at 5:11 PM on the 12th. You have to wait a full week (9:52 on the 12th) or it is an early BTT. I'm not a mod, I don't make the rules, just thought I'd explain what happened.

I wouldn't get your hopes up for a reversal. You were short 7 days by a few hours - talk about trigger happy -LOL! I got nailed for that too, but I was short a few days!

Why do you care? I got one too when I added pictures by making a second post right away on the EE. Just learn from you mistake and move on. Its not like they are kicking you off the board or anything.

There is an ambiguity in the EE rule, in the FAQ/EUA it only specifies "7 days"....not 7 business days, 7 calendar days, 7 solar days, 7 ephemeral days....just "7 days."

Since it appears to be enforced to the minute, it appears that they really mean "every 168 hours and 1 minute" and should specify it as such.

Think of the children......

Principal of the thing. Be clear.

I've had a couple as well and did learn from them.

If "rules" are to be inforced then they should be followed by both parties.

Pure principal.

If it isn't going to be policed to the minute, how many minutes early is o.k.? And if some minutes, why not a few hours? And then letting you BTT x hours early because someone else was allowed x hours early could turn out to allow you to be just under seven days. So if you are allowed to BTT on what is in effect only your sixth day ...

If you think a few minutes or a few hours or a day doesn't matter, you won't mind waiting a few minutes or a few hours or a day longer than seven days, will you?

Not at all.

I'll do that from now on to be certain I'm in the clear. Hard to attempt to follow the written rules, especially if I've had infractions in the past, if they are open to margins of error?

Life goes on....

Its no big deal, it's been discussed before when the poster thought he was being picked on. One thread on the topic degenerated to the point where more infractions were handed out and then locked. The sight is administrated by a group of volunteers that enforce the rules a little more loosely than the next guy. I've seen BTT 3 times in as many days and it got missed, and then there is your situation. Some just want the 168 hours before the bump and its not like they are charging you for the service. The inconstancy may be frustrating but its their (green tips) sight, rules. My 2 cents, WS

i got one for having too many EE ads running in the same section, because an older one was marked SPF and not deleted :D

i got another one for saying 'WTF' and 'retarded' in the hunting forum, describing a company's policies regarding a sale. apparently those are naughty swear words.

yet apparently others can run rampant in the General Firearms Forum repeatedly calling people f*ggots and not get one. go figure.

Put it this way... are you being charged for this service of selling your item? Did you get a fine for doing a BTT early? You're still posting so you didn't get banned.

I think a stiff drink and a few hours away from the computer are needed.

I noticed that one too! I can't believe those posters got away with that. If it were a racial prejudice they would have got it in short order, but not for a derogatory remark towards homosexuals. Apparently on this forum, some prejudicial hatreds are OK.

I agree with you WS. Most of us get more out of this site tha we put back.

All times I've recieved an infraction I've been reminded to re-read the rules and guidlines. I followed their "rules" as written.

Appreciate the site insight.
