I really liked the idea of Minox's Individual Focus 6.5x32mm binoculars when I saw them reviewed in a magazine a couple of years ago. I don't feel the need for really high magnification and I don't want very small binoculars for hunting because of the poor performance in low light, so these seemed like a very good compromise in size and magnification.

I recently shopped CameraLand on line because many members here have spoken well of them, and now I sing with that choir. I got my Minox binoculars today. Of course you can get significantly better optical quality if you throw lots more money at the problem, but at US $179.99 + $27.50 shipping and the C$23.xx customs duty the postman just took off me these seem like great value to me. (Maybe because I've been lugging around some older 7x50 Bushnells, albeit some of the better Bushnells of their day.)

They took 13 days to get here, which seems reasonable to me to avoid raising the shipping costs, though there was some concern in the last week because they give you a USPS tracking number and I guess some postal worker forgot to scan my package because it never showed up online. I'd have been perfectly happy not knowing.

I haven't even read the paperwork, and I can't find it now. I thought the postman said duty, but maybe he just said amount owing and I assumed...

Maybe he conned a tip out of me? Whatever it was, it added $23.xx to my cost, and I still think it was worth it.

I am very pleased with CameralandNY, that relates to both the product/pricing and the shipping service. I got Minox binoculars last year and a Nikon Prostaff 82mm spotting scope this year. They shipped Express both times (very reasonable cost) and both times I did not pay GST or anything else. With the Nikon they forgot to include the tripod belonging to the set, but they immediately sent one out at no further charge or any other hassle after notification- and Lo! and Behold! it was a really nice Pentax tripod. Not the cheapest crap. Nice deal.

i bought a minox 9.5x42 binos from doug a couple years ago. could'nt be happier. nobody trys to use them cause of the individual eye focus. i wear glasses and adjust mine for use without my glasses. if someone trys to use them they can't see anthing but blur.
