Where to start. A older member of our club has an 8L series ex-OPP rifle that he is going to dewat if I can not find a buyer for the parts or the rifle.
Please let me now if anyone is interested.
Thanks hs

What is the condition of the rifle, and price that he wants for it? Can it be shipped to the U.S.? Is there a photograph that we could see? I might be interested myself, but I'm in Texas. I've got a DSA-58 Medium Contour, but I've been looking for the right rifle to make a pencil barrel, Rhodesian cammo-ed, clone from. I've found some stuff here, but I'm always on the look-out for a deal/steal. At the very least he'd be assured that I would love it tenderly, keep it clean, house it in a nice safe, and shoot it.

Hey Guys
I to agree that it should not be dewatted but he said that he could not find someone who wanted it. So that is were I come in to the picture.
I was told that it is in excellent shape. I will find out how much in the next couple of days. I hope that we can save the gun.
The last conversation I had with him, he said he had a L1 as well so I will get that info as well.

Someone had better buy that gun, or it's fate will be the same as these ones:

There is also a SMG C1 nearby to these that has also had the "Liberal surgery" and been neutered.

Of all the class 12X guns, the Cdn FNs have actually done OK value wise over the last couple years. When you consider that Collector's source was selling them at $700 about 8 years back, the price on them has more than doubled since. I am still looking for a non-8L C1 for my collection, so like a vulture I wait for one to show up and meet it's fate.

I remember when 'Indian' fals were going for 170.00 back in the early 90's ,before C68 ushered in this current utopia of peace and order, I would give my 12(6) up in a milli second for 12(5)

Who painted on the c1(a1)-c2(a1) markings on the rifle(s) ?????

Hey, count me in. I am interested too.

When I was 16 years old (and in the Canadian Reserves) they gave me one and taught me how to use it. Now that I am a mature adult, I need 12-5 (which I have) to have one.

Some things just don't make sense.

Just love to get a decent 8L series........... brings back a lot of good memories.

Cheers

I bought cases of these at $90.oo dealer from Century.
If he wanted to dewat and keep it, I would trade a nice L1A1 for it
and do the dewatting for you , Would also buy it , thou looks like a big line
up in front of me. My L1A1 (aussie) barrel is not real great.
The last 1A1 I sold had a mint barrel in it , should have kept it:confused:
Marshall in Sask.

Looks correctly Canadian to me...

Half-length breach cover with stripper clip guide, diopter rear sight and folding charging handle.

Can't for the life of me remember the markings on issued rifles of the 80s.

Nice to see a C1 AND a C2 in your collection.

Because I am unfortunately NOT in possession of a 12(5) licence, I will never get to own the rifle that I first defended this country with as a 17 year old.

Nice way to say "thanks", from the government, eh?

Okay: bitterness aside....

As I CAN'T own a real one, what is a Dewat C1A1 worth these days?

Cheers,

Neal
