I am looking at Bear hunting in the fall and am looking at using a 45/70 Shiloh Sharps black powder or a 300 Win Mag. Does anyone have any qualms about using a 45/70 flat nosed soft bullet (cast by the best M.T. Chambers) should be problematic for Bruins?

Can't see what problems you could run into other than the 300WM will give you a bit more range. Take the Sharps....it would be a blast!

I think you'll really enjoy taking the Shiloh out for bear....although I've never taken a bear with my 45-70 BP or or the 45-120, I have taken mulies with them and they do the job very well, and with little meat damage..
